Agreed! Same thoughts went through my head. Maybe some AR hologram on your HUD? Curious what they know that we don't!

Police cars use flashing lights. Not unusual for drunks to crash into them because they were distracted by the flashing lights.
Better choice to make is just make sure the 3 brake lights you have are in proper working order.

Alcohol was a non contributing factor, eh?

Of course alcohol is a factor.
But to say that flashing lights are only a positive is not correct.

I drove a school bus for over 20 years. You know those big yellow things that have flashing red lights to tell you to stop. Once or twice a year someone would rear-end one of our buses displaying flashing red lights at a bus stop. That's for about 75 buses on the road. So don't think flashing brake lights will solve problems.

The other vehicle never won one of those battles. You usually needed to search for damage to the bus. The other vehicle the damage was usually somewhat obvious :)

This. Try getting a license in Japan. They don't play. Took me three attempts.

I've been vehicles with the feature, both day and night, and never thought much of it one way or the other.

My father in law was legally blind with a valid driver's license. Bad enough he had wedged a magnifying glass over the speedometer to monitor his speed. : /

Yeah, agreed. They should pull those flashing lights off the busses because of the one or two outliers a year.

Your flashing brake lights aren't going to do one bit of good for all of those people with their face into their cellphone driving behind you.
For the record, our district went to doing hazard light stops(red lights not used) when and where legally possible to keep traffic flowing.
In the long run it was the safer alternative. Thank about that in regard to your smarty response.

Yeah well my sister's cousins brothers aunt said she could see the flashlight 3rd brake light better at night than without it. So you thank about THAT!

Point is, none of us really have data on the effectiveness of a flashing brake light. I do however, think they make u more visible

I'm glad you noticed that, because from the beginning, that was really my only point.

When I see a rear brake light flash three times, I always assumed the driver was hastily tapping their brake pedal LOL
