I wish I could break my habit of a backpack, but I can't break my habit of having an extra layer(rain gear) and room for when I shed a layer hiking out.
Plus h2o, snack, first aid, drag strap, and a couple Ziploc bags.

Everybody’s situation is different. I only hunt private land and I have several stands set up on every farm I hunt, which I leave up all season. All of my stands are set up on roadways and old logging roads that I’ve been mowing for several years. In my case, I really don’t need a pack...Yes, I have forgotten one thing or another and had to go back to my truck.

As long as you guys don’t forget yourselves I think you can figure out
    A work around.

I carry a backpack as well as my fanny pack.
    I have backups of essentials.

so far my only “ oh shit “ is my cocking rope.
So used the one in my fanny pack. Then found my primary in
    The backpack under my sandwich....

    so cocking rope
    Licenses
    Flashlight
    Compasses
Are a few things I have double of in two different bags.

better to have it and not need it...

    No pack?

    From the bottom up:

Kill Kit - Zip Ties for attaching tag, gloves for field dressing, paper towels, extra knife, small first aid kit.

    Safety Harness

Clothing layers - varies as the season progresses. May be just a light jacket and a First Lite long sleeve wick tee shirt, or several other layers depending on temps.

Gloves, facemask, release in a lighweight beenie.

Small pocket inside main compartment - License, rangefinder, two grunt calls, Primos Doe Bleat can call

Outside bottom pocket - small saw and clippers, two bungee cords, 50' paracord. Thats helpful for when the deer dies in an inconvenient location and a leg needs held out of the way for field dressing. Bungee cords are for attaching my sticks and stand if I want to move it. Saw and clippers are for if I do.

Small Upper Pocket - Flo orange ribbon, Headlamp, flashlight, compass, whistle, (2)extra tree hooks, (1)extra carabiner for safety harness.

    Jacket pockets:
    Top right; phone, reading glasses:anonymous:
Top left; compass, tags, truck keys
    Bottom left; gloves, sock hat
    Bottom right; chew, small bottle:anonymous:
    Cargo pants pockets:
Left; seat attachment strap, small knife (in case I have to cut my harness; believe me...it's a possiblity.)
    Right; grunt call, small flashlight
Right side cargo pocket; limb saw

I leave my field dressing knife in the truck; when I shoot one I always take my bow and treestand back to the truck before I retrieve the deer.

I'm going to Illinois to look for my tags in a minute. If I don't find them (which I'm confident I won't) I'll see about getting replacements from an OTC vendor. If that happens I'll get in a tree this afternoon. It's cold and breezy today, a little breezier than I like, but whatever. I go back to work Wednesday after 35 days off. Good luck to those of you that are still bowhunting.

Thank you. My guess is that as I was emptying my jacket contents into my hunting bag I dropped them. I checked the parking lot yesterday and no luck. There was a truck parked there so I didn't walk back to the tree I was hunting from, doing that today. I also left a note and phone # on his windshield in case he found them but no calls as of yet.

Took my son hunting weds. afternoon. I have to take my glasses off to look through the binoculars. At last light I was giving one last look and laid my glasses down on my leg like I always do but since it was dark I forgot to put them back on. I can see good up close, can't see far off. We got to the truck, I started it and turned the lights on and realized I couldn't see. We drove to the blind, one of us stepped on them on the way out. I straightened them out and they fit better than they did before

I still have never found a pair of binos I don’t have to take my glasses off to look through. It’s miserable

I wore glasses for years. Switched to contacts awhile back. But I would either roll the eye cups down, or as with my Nikons or Vortex's rotate the eye cups inward.

I have a pair of Nikons and Bushnells, have tried rolling the eye cups down on both and still can't get a good view. I can't wear contacts with all the metal work I do and grinding dust.

I use vortex crossfire binos with glasses and it works pretty well for me.

Yep same for me. I’ve tried vortex, Nikon, and tried a friends Leopold binos and none gave me a good picture

I looked under my seat last night. Twice. With a flashlight.
Just saw this little feller 10 minutes ago.
