Two Uber drivers I’ve talked to bought brand new cars in 2017 (a Toyota Corolla and a Hyundai Elantra) and had about 70K miles on them by 2018, and neither car was paid off yet!

    Lucky!

We had flurries a couple weeks ago, while I was at my personal trainer’s house and we were working out in her garage.

Seems like those are better choices to run Uber with.

One time my Uber driver was this woman in an older 2006ish Nissan Quest that she bought for like $1,500 for the sole purpose of driving Uber; That is an ideal Uber vehicle! You don’t have payments and you won’t lose a whole hell of a lot of money if you have to sell it at a loss for whatever reason; This Quest had seating for six passengers, working front and rear A/C, a decent sound system, and working cruise control for those long highway jaunts! You can’t beat it for $1,500!

Yes, but not if you buy a brand new one and finance it!

My comparison was to the guy with the Suburban as those cars were probably half the cost.

Also, when I started doing Uber Eats and DoorDash, I knew so was going to be racking up extra miles; However, my truck already had almost 90K miles when I signed up and it was simply given to me as a Christmas present! My dad paid off the truck no later than 2013 and the title is now in my name! On top of that, I drive a Tacoma; High mileage does not not seem to have much of an effect n resale value!

It was a Yukon XL, so it was slightly more expensive than a Suburban; He was definitely clearing a profit driving Uber, but I would have bought an older 2007-2014 Suburban/Yukon XL instead. Managing to kill a transmission before paying off the loan would concern me greatly...

At least last I heard Uber requires one to have a 5 year old or newer ride unless that's different where you are

When I signed up for Uber Eats in 2018, it was nothing older than 1998 and nothing with a rebuilt/salvage title. Since you’re not carrying people, the criteria isn’t as strict...

The oldest Uber car I ever rode in was an ex-cop car 2003ish Crown Vic with like 300K miles in 2018 or so; I joked with my friends that I took an Uber to avoid getting a DUI and still ended up in a police car...

I believe he bought one of those third party extended warranties and only had to pay a deductible...

The oldest Uber cars I’ve ridden in besides the 2003ish Crown Vic and the 2004-2006ish Nissan Quest; 2004 Prius with 240K miles and 2007 Pontiac Grand Am (don’t remember the miles on that one)...
