Don't know if I like barrel aged beer. Don't think I've ever had one. And it's a bit more than 13 bucks a bottle when you factor in shipping. I decided to try a bottle. Actually two. Two is one, one is none.
$37.86 to be precise. I imagine this will be a one off order. For 50 bucks I can get a good bottle of bourbon that I can enjoy for many days.

I've had a few of the bourbon barrel aged beers. Done right, they're pretty good but the thing I hate is you almost need to drink the bottle in one go (or a long ass day) or lose it. Like you said, I can buy a whisky and it lasts. Right now, I'm actively investigating a local distiller. 10th Street Distillery. So far, so good.

Look at Bevmo or Total Wine & more or your local liquor store, at least you would save on shipping.

Barrel aged beers are usually stouts or porters. They have a bourbon aftertaste. I prefer drinking them a little warmer than most beers. That way you can pick up all of the extra flavors.

Well, it's only a 12 ounce beer so figure I can get that down in a reasonable amount of time.

My experience, as well. Probably just put them in the garage at a comfy 55 degrees.
I'll check out BevMo. It's time for a run anyway.

If you find yourself up here on the northcoast you should stop in at Port o' Pints Brewery in Crescent City. You won't be disappointed.

Well, I do like a good stout. Went to Ireland/Scotland last year for four weeks weeks. I only drank Guinness, of course. So good there. So good. Should be interesting how this Anniversary Ale tastes. Still, I'm no skinflint, but 13 bucks for a 12 ounce beer makes me shudder.

~$1 an ounce doesn't sound too bad.
I wish my whiskey collection averaged out to that. If math serves me right, I'm probably around $3-4 an ounce on average. And I have over 1,500ish ounces as a guess? Yikes that added up quickly...

Took a trip to the kern River Valley over the weekend. From lake isabella, up to Kennedy Meadows, through sherman pass and then back down through Kernville. First part of the trip was washboarded as fuck so the truck got a good massage and loosened some stuff up. Overall great trip with some awesome weather. Time to figure out some new suspension for this thing

If you mountain bike check out the Cannell Plunge in that area sometime.

It's a shuttled ride that's around 25 or 30ish miles with 8,000 feet of decent. Most of which is at the end.
