drop hitch with wireing hartness be alright or tow package?

    I am looking about getting a 2011 tacoma. Have a 17ft casita trailer. 2100lbs empty saying 2800 to 3000 with water and all. 200 tongue weight. would I need the towing package or would the drop hitch with wireing hartness be alright. Live in Central Kansas would be going to east coast as well as west coast got son in Marines got to see off and on thanks for the help guys

    trd sport with avid off road light bar, avid rock sliders. OEM roof rack, 12' LED light bar, and Sock monkey decals.
    the standard tow weight is 3000 lbs.
    with tow its about 6500

    so just depends on how much water is in it.

    If you are looking at new trucks and going to pull a trailer regularly, I would suggest you get the towing package. You will get Class 4 receiver hitch, full wire harness, oil cooler and trans cooler. I added the Toyota receiver hitch and wiring harness on my truck (did not have tow package) and in the end cost almost as much. I think you will be much better off. Hope this helps.
