crab snaring is fun! crowds at the beginning of the season is not. i'm waiting for a day-off; weekends are nuts.. i also hate people casting over my line or squeezing in between my rods.

no, we laid traps about a mile out from Ritz Carlton and motored all over the place fishing. We all agreed to stay closer to pots next time to keep an eye out

Better fish on my left side then

I tried not to be taken by name, and threw some line with each of the big name rods. Depending on the weight, I picked the one that matched my casting rhythm/style.

    Looks something like this, maybe?

That’s it! That whole area is good for bass and trout. Behind you where it starts to curve and turn into the actual lake, thats where I smoked the bass when I lived over there.

New Phenix feather series rod came in today... holy smokes is it light. Feels like a small twig in my hands. Paired it with one of my lightweight Pflueger reels and it’s a dime. Can’t wait to test it!

Also got in the new KVD spinning reel that Lews is putting out. Out of the box it’s a nice reel. Good materials, nice drag system, attention to detail, but we’ll see how it holds up over the next year. Wanted a new 2-piece rod and reel for my truck so I always have something on me in case I saw a cool body of water while out traveling. Pumped to try the Lews reel and Phenix rod out together!

I looked HARD at that rod. I felt the Maxim would work for me better. So far it’s kicking butt. But damn, that Feather tugged at me. It’s a beauty.
Does the Feather have the bait hook at rear of handle?

My bud wants me to join him on the Delta Friday throwing an A-rig for Any type of bass.

I’m tempted to try an obscure boat launch I found on google earth. At Berryessa. I called the park manager and she said it’s open for use, but they didn’t announce it. She said nobody is there. Shhhhhhh...maybe Saturday. But I’m gonna force my way in to an eye doctor before hand to figure out what’s wrong with my eye. :(

Yeah the Feather has the hook keeper at the rear too. Can’t get over how light it is. I also have the Phenix M1 spinning rod (same action as the feather too) and honestly, first impressions, the feather feels much nicer all around. Much more balanced than the M1 is.

It’s getting harder to find quality 2-piece rods that aren’t overpriced so that’s why I ended up with the feather. Didn’t break the bank, light as a, dare I say, feather, and looks good. We’ll see how it does long-term.

The only option for your boat is half moon bay or bodega lol. No dungeness can be taken inside the bay. I wouldn't take a 14' aluminum out the gate pretty much ever...

We saw three people on a porta boat heading out the harbor at hmb loaded to the gills with crab pots. Rails were only a few inches above waterline at best. Looked sketch as fuck, but I'm happy to be your pirate partner anytime you wanna go out. I'm sure we'll score some good booty ;)

I've seen three Phoenix rods snap this year :crapstorm:

And they changed their warranty. Minimum $90 plus shipping to fix under warranty, or pay the difference to the next upgrade

Woahhhh hey man don’t jinx shit! Lol. Nahhh I’ve been fortunate not to have any Phenix rods snap yet (knock on wood), but hopefully my new one doesn’t. If so, I bought it through TackleWarehouse so I feel a bit relieved I could go back to them as well if something went awry.

Curious though... do you know what models the Phenix rods were that snapped? Be interesting to see if it’s one specific model or across the board.

You must have looked TOO HARD at that rod. It happens. Surprised it didn't get the other eye, as well.

i have seen one (i think it was a)Feather snap. but it had a weird bubble in the rod..like a fiber/epoxy bubble. it snapped right there.

my Maxim is pretty bubble free. i've snapped a few rods, and i blame myself..not the truck door hahhaa..it happens. but me, i can break a hammer.

i bought my brother a GLoomis when he graduated..i watched him snap that thing..man it was funny. he didnt think so.

i was at that store in Cotati. i had a Med-Light Dobyns Fury spinning rod in my hand for about 30 minutes while looking for lures. it was super super fantastic. palm swell made out of cork. light as eff! whippy...$119. i put it back because i dont think i could stand my wife's eyerolling..plus it would force me to buy a reel.

i need another baitcast rod first. and a reel. i need a jig rod. right now i am always tying and retying jigs and chatterbaits. no biggie, but you know.
