im not familiar with the fords automatic, the thing i like about the allison transmission is you can push button shift for heavy loads or you can just put it in drive and go..

Go Ford. I do agree that the 7.3 was a damn good engine. We have an 06 F350 King Ranch 4x4 with about 117k on it. All we use it for is a farm truck, pulling trailers and running around the fields. Our old farm hand screwed up and put gas in it instead of diesel. It still runs like new so......

The Allison Trans to me seems to always shift like shit. Hard and Clunky.

I would go with the new 6.7 Powerstroke. Since they went to the Torqshift trans they haven't had any trans problems and the new powerstroke is built in house rather than being sorced from international like the troublesome 6.0 and 6.4s. The 6.7 gets way better mileage than the 6.7 cummins or the duramax and has the most torque out of all three. The interior of a dodge mega cab is nice if you need lots of cab room and the ride and interior of the chevys are nice, but for an overall pick for a 1-ton I would go with the Ford.

What I dont understand is how Doge uses Cummins when it isn't their engines. Ford actually makes theirs just in Germany. BTW I've heard that Ford is somewhat with Cummins but they wont put the engines in their vehicles.

Yeah, Cummins is owned by Ford. With the exception of this new scorpion engine, fords powerstrokes were owned by by International... Side note, you can manually shift the 2011 ford tranny

See Ford needs to do it already. Yet, they let Dodge use the Cummins

Powerstroke vs Duramax..i dunno IMO Any tests done in videos are bull..I like all three diesels from the big three but I'd always rather be cummin then strokin :/
Edit: I also like the idea of the new ecoboost f150. pretty badass concept

To the OP: How much do you really need to tow? Like someone said, that EcoBoost 3.5L TT F150 that tows 11,300 lbs and gets 24-25 mpg seriously intrigues me.

Isn't chevy the only company that has independent front diesels? I'd rather have a solid front end on a diesel IMO.
