 i rag dolled over a cliff a few winters ago (i meant to hit the cliff, but fucked up the take off with a bad line) boarding and slammed my ass on the rock so hard, my entire left ass cheek and leg down to my calf turned purple. My cheek swelled up so bad it was literally square, so weird. Couldn't sit or lie down on my back for weeks, also pinched a nerve due to swelling and made a couple toes go numb for a bit.

I wish i could find a pic but i dont think i have it anywhere

I had a similar accident on a dive boat. Stepped to the edge of the platform right as a wave bucked the tail up, ejected me, and then dropped out from under me. Clipped the edge as I fell into the water with my weight plus 80 pounds of dive gear on my back.

Took about 2 months before I could walk without a limp and stand fully upright. Being an accountant with a desk job, it was miserable from 8 to 5 every day.

Today all the planets aligned. A day off, my Achilles Tendinitis calmed down a bit. Blue skies and 55°. The perfect hero dirt was calling. I got lucky with not many others out. Three months of smoke filled skies in Northern Colorado then a month of foot issues my rides have been few and far between. Today I felt like a kid again. I replaced an air volume spacer in my shock a couple of days ago and it definitely helped. Previously I was blowing through half of the stroke in a blink of an eye. Now it’s much firmer and controlled in the tech. Love this bike. [IMG]

Nice! I always forget about Devil’s Backbone. Not my favorite trail, but better than Coyote. Horsetooth still looks to have snow up there, Lory’s got the muddy trail closure going on and Bobcat burned up...again. Not many options at the moment.

    Better than zero options.

I want to ride the new bike, but think I have a min 3 hour drive to get to any.

The price you pay to have riding in your backyard all summer.

Yep, take what we can get right now. Word on the street is Bobcat won’t be open until next summer with all the fire cleanup needed. Today’s dirt and temps were perfect. Tomorrow it gets cold again.

True, guess I’m picky on what I ride. I get tired of the same old goat track stuff after a bit.

On the topic of hurting ones self on a bike...
    btsGP3sAcnKHZyHUTMHgBEeWhN0lhEoV_f_2-nZp_bb22f7a5c4e3b1759ec35b4c9833784cb8533be9.jpg

Hiline trail in Sedona got the better of me. Ended up with three stitches in my nose, but could've been much much worse!

Also, for anyone thinking about a bike trip to Sedona...fair warning that the biking there is tough! I'd rate everything as a grade harder than what is listed on trail forks. Super fun and beautiful area, but be warned that there's lots of highly technical riding on exposed cliffs. I was a bit overwhelmed, even compared to years of riding southern Utah.

Here's a pretty pic of the views from Hiline:

I got through the chute and ensuing steep switch back fine, but then there's a 2-3 foot step after that. I'm pretty sure it rolls, but my front tire got caught up and I went supermaning in to the dirt. I was actually able to ride everything else on Hiline with that gauze tampon in my nose.

This was my first ride of the weekend as well. Fortunately, I felt good enough to ride all of Hogs and Hangover with my stitched up nose. Definitely agree on Sedona being awesome, I just wasn't expecting it to be that much more technical than Moab.

Isn't it funny how trails are just downright harder in some places? Like Moab or St George locals laugh when they come ride our northern trails.

Bootleg in Vegas is the one that scared me, crash and you land on 100000 steak knives of sharp friggin rock.
