We had a lab growing up that got crazy neurotic/separation anxiety in her old age. One time we came home and found her hiding in the corner with a huge piece of drywall all around her neck, she had tried going through the cat door to the cat's litter box in the garage and got stuck lol. My dad was so pissed

I wish I had somebody to go have a beer with and talk about cars tonight. But I don't. Nobody around here would even care or understand the conversation.

    Oh well. Maybe tomorrow night.

Same. Most everyone I know don't have the appreciation for technical talk like my Dad did. Even if he had no real knowledge about the topic, he was great at asking questions. Most people's eyes just glaze over these days.

You've got a lot of talent when it comes to making things. Much more than me. I really have no woodworking, welding, or fabrication skills. So I'm stuck having to buy a lot of things that I see people making. I know what I want, but it gets to be baffling figuring out how to make something. So I wait for when I get the chance to get something ready-made. Having the time and a good place to work has always been a big challenge for me.

I enjoy seeing what you guys do here. You are all way talented.

never too late to learn! Have you thought about taking community college or trade school courses? It has been years but I did an after hours one that covered Oxy/Acet, SMAW, MIG, TIG welding and oxy/acet cutting. Cost like $400 out of pocket including all consumables

I'm fortunate that my good roommate is a gear head. He used to be a machinist and is now a mechanical engineer so we are always BSing about stuff and working on projects. his dad is in aerospace and is building a 454 to swap into his Landcruiser

Cool. Thank you. I hope to be up your way in July. The other day we were talking about a polar plunge.

Though I don't think I would live after taking a polar plunge with the group at 1:48 minutes in this video.

I took an intro to welding course at a local trade discovery center last year. I learned enough to know the differences. Though it would be fun to really take a full course. I put in so many hours for my work that it saps me at the end of the day. Working on cars makes me feel really good. Somehow I escape back into my life as a teen when I had to make everything work if I wanted to drive or ride it.
