Pulsing with the treadmill isnt suprising. Every time your foot hits the belt, the motor has to work a little harder to keep the belt moving.

And the sump kicking on is also drawing quite a few amps. Big draw appliances should always have their own breakers. Never sharing with other high draw items.

    Uggghhhh......

    Your focus has been lost..............again.

I'll go back to one of my first posts in this thread. Hire an electrician to sort out that mess in the basement.

The sump and the treadmill need to have individual circuits. They should not be ganged in with other outlets. Just those 2 alone would overload a 15A circuit causing the breaker to trip.

The outdoor power towers need to be in some type of weather resistant enclosure. A couple of 5 gallon buckets from the local DIY Big Box store could be made into good water resistant enclosures. Just need to cut passage holes for the wires to pass through.
The primary purpose is to protect the power towers from water intrusion which would trip the GFCI.

Ok, I was asking to make sure you had grounded gfci for safety reasons. Being a newer house I’d assume so. But a gfci tester will check for proper polarity and a properly connected ground.

I am going to buy all of this stuff for future use, but the biggest issue seems to be that the treadmill uses 12 amps and the circuit is 15 amps total. My dad seems on board with giving the treadmill its own circuit.

Hey, it's an Aspie thing; MY focus is hard to keep sometimes...

My dad agrees about giving the sump and treadmill their own circuits.

Plug into separate circuits as far as treadmill and lights go (split the load). Process of elimination, start by running lights and eliminate the GFI plug. Remove the light strings in question. You don't need to call an electrician. If are on this forum then I would assume you have the ability to troubleshoot the issue.

Dude, it's not that hard. I converted my house from a 50amp panel with 10 breakers and everything wired together, room to room, bathrooms to rooms, and everything in between. Installed a 200amp panel and then separated every room and major appliance to separate breakers. It just takes time and knowing exactly what is wired to what.

Don't forget the permit, inspection, and the NEC.

Agreed. The work for home wiring is not terribly complex. Depending on your locale, permits, inspections, performed by licensed electricians......

The work is straight forward when you know the terms and concepts of circuitry. Knowing the difference between a NEMA 15 outlet and a GFCI outlet and a GFCI in panel is important. Plus basic understanding of what devices are on a circuit and how to determine current load is helpful.

I'm not convinced that an electrician is not needed for this situation. I think the basic problem is deeper than just Christmas lights tripping a GFCI circuit.

I wish the OP good luck for a solution. I have offered sound suggestions to help with the initial problem.

I found out from my dad that the sump pump has it's own circuit.

Talking about those high mileage cars.. I like to ask the cabbies around here about the mileage on their cars. Crown Vics and Suburbans with 350k+ seems common. Though I bet the Suburbans have had ALOT more repairs by now. Those Panther platform Fords seem pretty damn tough.

I don’t know about those. Nobody uses them around here. Probably due to lack of a service facility. You use Euro cars in Fairbanks at your own risk.

An old Rolls-Royce would hold up as long as you washed the underside; Back in the 1970s they shipped them to the Arctic Circle to test out the heaters!

Rousch has a business here testing cars. All winter long we see future models wrapped in that black/white disguise, just driving around. It’s a job that seems to always have openings. We have a friend that crashed one and got fired lol.
