My 2019 has one - I keep one CD in it - Elvis Christmas CD - My youngest daughter gave it to me a LONG time ago for a Christmas present...I put it in my car at the time and it has moved over to whatever my daily driver is. I play it a lot....cheers me up....just thought, I've never told my daughter that.

2020s (TRDs at least) got a new head unit with Android Auto/Apple Car Play. Screen size went to 8 inches which deleted the CD player. The aux input also quietly got deleted--cheap bast@#ds.

My 2020 SR5 doesn't have a CD player. I think '19 was the last year for them in the Taco.

If you want one in a new Tacoma now you would need to put in something aftermarket. There still are plenty made but I see places like Crutchfield selling more models that are digital media head units, no cd player.
I think they will still sell them for five to ten years more then they will become like the old two knob chassis car radios, basically a specialty item.

I still have hundreds of CDs. I still buy New ones occasionally but ones I wanted to hear while driving I just rip to mp3 in my computer and copy to my phone.

That is correct....2019 was the final year in the Tacoma for a CD player. My 19 SR5 has one. The 2020+ have the new Android Auto/Carplay units that dropped the CD player.

Also, the Corollas and Camrys lock out the ability to change the iPod on the head unit when the vehicle is moving above 5 MPH...

    :annoyed:

Do Tacos and Tundras have this stupid feature?

I don't know about iPod and IPhone because I never connect my work iPhone to the truck.

I use my Android phone and you can connect it when in drive, I'm not t about when in motion I'd have to test that out. You can control the music with android auto on the wheel and head unit anytime it's connected. The one thing you can't do is set up Android auto, pair a new phone to android auto unless you are in park with the parking brake on. I'd guess that is the same on the Apple side too.

Mine doesn't . It has Apple Carplay and the android version of that too. I like it but I do sometimes miss my 15 y/o binder of CDs that have been custom made.

Just like that woman who successfully sued Winnebago and won after she treated the cruise control like an autopilot; She set the cruise control and actually went back to check the food she had in the oven while on the highway! Motorhome inevitably crashed and got totaled, and she sued Winnebago for not providing “proper instructions” on how cruise control was supposed to work...

I don’t know how this woman got a driver’s license, because I’ve known the basics of proper cruise control usage since my dad explained it to me when I was like five!

That's messed up she must have had one heck of a lawyer to be able to get a case based on that to win or a judge that bent easy.

    @Taco_mike73

Also, my friend’s mom has a 2007 Camry Hybrid that she bought new; She still has it, and before I got my license and my friend got his own car the Camry is what we’d cruise around in back in 2009-2011...

The ‘07 Camry predates shit like Entune, but it had the top-of-line stereo for 2007; JBL system with CD player, Bluetooth, and navigation. It did not have USB and thus did not have full iPod integration, but it have your basic AUX input; My friend and I would plug our iPods into the stereo and that factory JBL system kicked some serious ass. Since it was just an AUX jack, the car’s “nanny state” system did not have any control over iPod operation...

However, the GPS was intertwined with this obnoxious system; What drove me and my friend nuts was that whenever we changed our minds about where we wanted to go, he would have to pull over and stop because the stupid nanny system would not let us input a new destination or return to the main menu of the car was going more than 5 MPH!

    :annoyed:

You’d think that since the sensors in the shotgun seat sensed how heavy the passenger was and could turn the airbag off if they were too small, it would be smart enough to sense there was a copilot and override the lockout on the GPS!

By the way, this Camry is approaching 200K (if it hasn’t already surpassed it), and is quite beat up, but it refuses to die and my friend’s mom continues to drive it daily!

CD, lossless, MP3 (with a decent bitrate) etc. will have no discernible difference in a high distortion, already sound polluted environment like a vehicle with stock or upgraded audio. You would be hard pressed to find a trained ear to discern the difference even with high quality studio headphones. The placebo effect from listening to a 500MB FLAC file cannot be overlooked, however.

Things that will sound shitty- older Bluetooth protocols, low bitrate MP3s, low quality streams, Nickelback

Well. Hot damn. I didn't realize my truck lacked a CD player until I read this thread, then went and checked. Kinda ironic, because when I got my first Tacoma back in 1999, it was a big deal for me to get one with a CD player.

Basic AM/FM cassette was standard until 2004, and I think prior to 2001 it was just an AM/FM radio...
