Yup me too. Sucks that we'd have to but not the first time I'd done something like that with some after market part.

Haha, I hadn't thought of that. I was ready to shave some of that orange corner off.

    Glad the smarter guys intervened.

Got this with my coil packs.. One would think this constitutes a defect in material and workmanship right?

I feel that this falls under a defect in worksmanship.

Another option is Accel ignition products. They make coil packs as well when I was searching recently and I guess they've been available for a few years now. Accel used to have a name in drag racing so I wouldn't doubt they could make some potential available power.

Not to burst the bubble but I think I remember reading on here that they got bought and eventually manufacturing got changed to a different factory and the quality went down.
I hope the Ripp guys make this right as when I talked to the owner on the phone he seemed to be a good dude.

D'oh. They used to be quality but I could see the quality decreasing. My friend told me all the stuff in the performance automotive industry that is manufactured in China is complete $hit. They moved production to Mexico where quality and consistency is way better. Not sure that makes it any better lol

May i ask why guys in here haven’t looked at E85 for more power?

Not having the ability to monitor ethanol content by the ecu. One bad batch of the corn and your motor is gonna go kaboom. To safely do it you would have to manually test any E85 going into the truck and have the right tune for that % of E85. If someone really wanted to do it they could get an aftermarket ecu where something like an ECA could be wired in to monitor the ethanol %

For me its the availability and consistency of the fuel. That's why I'll just stay with readily and widely available 93 w/up to 10% eth.

I guess it just depends on the platform then. I know in my other cars I have a tune for E85 without ethanol sensors that seem to work good but then again I only fill with e85 at my local station that’s seems to always be in the range of e70-e82

You should be careful with that. I have seen some things where a station suddenly gets a bad batch and in reality they are selling like e40. Bad things happen then. I would love to run ethanol but it's just not worth it for me to blow my motor on something like that. That and there is only a few stations close by that have it. Usually the most scuffed stations have it lol

In order for it them to sell it as e85 it needs to be minimum of e60 and after talking to a couple of tuners they said that as long as it’s above e60 it doesn’t make too much of difference. And I’m guessing they don’t go all out for the same reason too. Then again I guess I like to take more risks. Motor on my car is 15k but I am now changing over to a flex fuel setup

So RIPP's promo vid dyno showed +18hp gain on a stock NA 3rd gen motor.....

+18 rwhp for coil packs?? On a stock NA motor?? o_O

Maybe we should start guess-timating horsepower using vendor advertised results. Then we'd have a plenty of 600hp trucks in this thread :D
