I know this is gonna sound stupid but I want to try this and have the first one. I have a almost bone stock 2019 taco Trd off-road with the six speed. (All I’ve done is upgrade tires and speakers) But I want to swap it to a 6bt Cummins with a nv-4500. I’ve already got front and rear axles, suspension (custom air ride), drive shaft, built nv-4500 trans, south bend dual disc clutch, engine (with some go fast parts), transfer case, intercooler kit, lift pump and sump, ton truck brakes and 20in wheels on the way. What else am i missing? Also how could I brace up the frame to make it a little stronger?

I don't have any input here but I do have a question. Why the swap?
Either way, start a build thread when you get this going, I'm very intrigued.

Can our frames even handle a 1000 lb engine?

I would almost go for the 4bt over the 6bt

It might be easier to put the toyota body on a dodge frame.

Isn't this one of those crucial details you should have a strong understanding of before deciding on using a 3rd gen as the platform for this swap?

"ambitious" is a polite way to frame it.

Brother, if you already bought the motor and a bunch or other components and have to ask for advice on this I hope you have a big checkbook to back up your desire.

GL with your project! And I really mean it... but there a LOT of dead soldiers that have wasted a lot of time and money on the path you're trying to take. Life offers us lessons in lots of ways, hope yours is not too expensive.

    Ya’ll are no fun, damn.

If OP can pull it off then godspeed man!

People have jammed bigger engines into smaller vehicles.

I think its more of that he is putting a Saturn 5 rocket engine on a bottle rocket. The tacoma is going to crumple under the power and weight of a 6bt. Hell even a 4bt is going to strain the tacoma frame.
I would look into the cummins R2.8 engine. Not nearly as powerful as a 4bt or 6bt, but well worth it.

But here is a 12v cummins in a older tacoma

    Here is a 4bt

Why ruin a perfectly good 3rd gen with high resale value? I'd buy a good 1st or 2nd gen with a blown motor and transmission and start with that.
