My 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD Limited had the infinity sound system and the nav built in too. That one made you stop and put it in park to change destination. The system did age well like it seems most things chrysler made in that time frame and probably still. The system stopped reading the nav map dvd and the foam on the infinity speakers crumbled. I replaced it all with alpine.

It should have both apple Car play and android auto. In the settings you can only enable one of those at a time.

 

And here I was ready to shit over all you old curmudgeons for using such antiquated tech and you tell a story like that. That's a cool tradition, I sure hope you remember to take it out next truck change.
About the old curmudgeons comment- I'm old too! but, to my defense, I've adapted and my CD binders haven't been out of the basement in years.

 

I remember when cars transitioned from cassette tapes to cd’s... there went all my mixed tapes hahahaha

 

My parents have had three vehicles with a CD player and cassette player...

2000 GMC Safari conversion van

2004 Honda Odyssey EX

2008 Acura TL (not just a CD player but a 6-CD changer, and an AUX input!)

I miss those legit multimedia radios...

 

Oh we can go way back. The first car I had to drive was handed down through family originally from my grandfather. It had an AM radio with an FM converter connected. I bet nearly no one remembers those.

 

I've used those FM transmitters that allow you to play your iPod or Discman through a weak radio station, but while I've heard of the FM converters I have no experience with them...

They were like the FM transmitter in how they worked but they were looped in to the antenna cable. The retransmited FM to an AM frequency. In the 70s cars didn't all even have an FM radio. Hard to imagine when now we have satilite with over 100 stations coast to coast.

 

AM radio was standard on some vehicles well into the early 1990s...

 

I'm sure that's true. Probably the low end economy cars, base model company cars and work vehicles mostly.

 

Never utilize CD’s anymore but really appreciate that our trucks can play them for some reason.

 

My 2000 Tacoma had Cassette and CD.

 

I had a Rental Chevy Corsica in the mid 90's that only had an AM Radio and had an 8 hour road trip, it was pretty miserable.

 

Ah the Corisa, made to be a rental car. Only thing worse was the early 90s Cavalier. I took my drivers test in one of those.... absolute garbage.
