    The white edge does stand out nicely against the background, landscape. The red glider, the edge looks faded. So I can see where white would be the best color choice against UV damage and to be seen in the air and land

    How do you get that high in the air?

    Looks good.

    Is there a way to tell if a surface has mineral oil or varnish?

    My wood trays the finish look like it's peeling or flaking. I want to resurface them someday.

    Oils provide protection by absorbing into the wood, there's no flaking at all. I reapply a coat of oil annually on all of my cutting boards (2) and my wooden kitchen knife handles. Cutting board mineral oil is 100% food safe.

    Varnish coats the wood and will flake/peel over time,

    We either run off the side of a perfectly good mountain or tow up behind ultralites and release. We get up/stay up by thermaling (my record is 5.5hrs, it hurt).
    Scoff if you will, but it takes some good piloting to keep an aircraft aloft that's constantly falling at 240fpm. :rofl:
