I am thinking about unstalling bilsteins on my 2016 offroad 4 by 4. I want a 2 inch lift in the front but see that it is not recommended to go to the 5th notch on the bilsteins. Is it fine to do or should I avoid?

I'm sure Bilstein has a chart. Those are the recommendations I'd use.

If its not recommended, then you've answered your own question. All the Bilsteins do as you go up in notches is compress the coil resulting in a firmer ride. However, firmer is a matter of taste and many people (including myself), have run them with good results - they are a quality product and a much better solution than a spacer. While the 5100's are a nice starter solution, just get the Bilstein 6112's. A 2.5" coilover designed to go up to 2" in the front, plus the ride will be sublime.

    Work in progress...
The Off Road sits1 inch higher than the SR or Sport models so adding 2 inches will put you at about around 3 inches over the "stock" height. At 3 inches over stock things like upper control arms come into play. A 5/8 inch spacer and some extended top hat bolts would give you an extra inch of lift. That should put you almost level, little rack. A good starting out "lift." If you install yourself, I would go this way. You would pay for the alignment and the spacers/studs, low budget. Save for some actual upgrades if you decide you need more.

Basically what I am trying to do is fit 285s under my taco with not too much rubbing but also don’t want the wheel well to look crowded. What if I lifted 1.5 inches up front? Keep in mind I’m going to do spidertrax 1.25 wheel spacers.

Trial and error buddy. Only you know. I have the 5100s up top no problem. Just firm like mentioned above.

5100’s all around , 2” up front rear 1.5” wheelers AAL , SPC upper control arms. 1.25” spidertrax for a little better stance Great set up IMO.

Your truck is fine to go on top setting. Firmer ride for some is good , some not.

    Good luck OP

Thank you! Also what is your thoughts on new coils vs stock coils? What is the advantage of upgrading to the 2887 springs with the bilstein 5100s?

I was going to get 887 Ome decided not to because of sagging issues with them. OEM coils no sag..happiness in ride is in the eye of the beholder. Also if you run e rated tires will stiffen ride. I’m not a fussy dude.

How did you get a 2.5 inch lift with the 5100's... I thought the highest notch was good for a 2 inch lift.

for 4x4, 5th notch on driver side, 4th on passenger side. that will make up for the "taco lean" since your gas tank, steering, battery and driver are all on the driver side of the truck. Just make sure to have an experienced offroad alignment person do the alignment to make it right

    2x4 use 4th & 3rd

I don't need/want a lift. But I've done an above average amount of suspension tinkering on both autox and drag cars.

To me the fixed perch choices are just a bit better than spacers.

I'd prefer the correct spring rate for the job and 0 notch on the 5100s. Lifting via preload, particularly higher up, can cause more problems than the lift will solve if you use the vehicle in rough off road situations.

If it's just for looks on a pavement queen, it's mostly just about if you like the ride results.

Wazzup guys and gals. A few months ago I installed 2” aal in rear and OME 2887 coils wrapped around Bilstein 5100’s on bottom notch. My front has sagged/settled only after a few months with a 1 1/8th difference betwen front and back. Yall thinks its ok to just add a quality 1/2 inch thick spacer on top of front coils to get my 1” back and sitting purty?
