The one burning question I have is how do you bypass the notoriously complex and sensitive electronics on a swap like that?

As in delete/replace everything? ECU, Instrument/info/telemetry screen, safety systems? I thought they were all interconnected.

Maybe maybe not. Im not experience enough in swapping old crusty motors into brand new vehicles. ide assume the bcm controls all the interior stuff

Same, no experience in that department. Just an idle curiosity on whether the electronic component would wind up costing more time/money than the crate engine itself.

Anything is possible... and if it's not your money.. who cares..

I support all builds... and all fanboys to be butthurt by the builds... piss off as many groups of people as possible...

One of the best possible examples of ultimate build piss offs .... the level of butthurt from the tifosi and the boxer bros was/is glorious.

Not really related but, my buddy installed 12valve cummins in his k15, swapped for a 5 spd as well. He works in a machine shop since he was little(family business) and he is awesome at stuff like that. He did all the work himself.

He helped md out greatly one time when i cross thrraded the last spark plug on my ranger:anonymous:

Sounds like a stupid idea to me. But, aside from that, I think the only way to pull off something like that would be to make a new frame and swap the body onto it. Done properly, it is going to be one very expensive abortion and to what end?

Just because something could be done, doesn’t mean it should be done.

Experience is what you have about 2 seconds after you actually needed it.

I’m an electrical engineer so that’s the least of my worries. Also to those of you doubting mechanical knowledge I’ve worked under both very skilled diesel mechanics and worked for Toyota so I have an edge on the inner workings of a Tacoma. This build should work because the stock frame and aftermarket suspension and axles will hold up to every day driving but I’d have to be careful. Beefing up the frame is just to give me piece of mind that it won’t twist or break when I get on it and start laying the fuel to it.

I have to be able to fit the bigger brakes from the ton truck or I’d but 18s on but I’ve tried using these brakes with 18s before and they didn’t fit.

    Do those exist, though?
Can only speak from my own experience, but I've had two JZ swapped Supras, neither had Cruise Control or AC because they couldn't. Now I think it's possible to re-equip with AC, but Cruise is still out. Of course, there are aftermarket solutions that I haven't looked into much. That's a 30 year old car without a lot of technology. I can't imagine how complex it would be to keep the systems on this truck.

Best of luck OP. Definitely interested in seeing how this turns out.
