The dealership gave me a loaner after talking to the service manager about my concerns with the long term of the truck he called the regional office for the extended warranty.

No offense but, given your join date, number of posts, and coincidence that you have the exact same issue as the OP, the odds that you are in fact the OP are sky high.

Edit: if I’m wrong, I’m wrong. If I’m right, you should seek professional help.

I have been following this thread since the beginning and did not see this before. Are you saying that your brand new Tacoma broke a spring on its first tank of gas also?

Sounds like it is an issue during the engine building someone or something is hitting the exhaust valve spring causing the problem in the first few hundred miles.

Sir/Madam, you are way to reasonable for this thread.

Lemon or extended warranty is the right answer, unfortunately, that's not what this thread was about before being whitewashed into what it is now.

    Good luck going forward.

Just curious how you know it has the same problem, if it has not been fixed yet?

Was it just the same symptoms that the OP experienced with his?

Have either of the trucks been fixed yet?

Just wondering how one trades in a car to lease a Tacoma?

The only reason I joined was to talk to him about what happened. I have spoke with him on the phone about what happened. He leased his truck no way they are going to do anything extra for him. I googled the broke valve spring and came across this post. Found the first 27 pages funny and did not want to drop the lease bomb but feel it might take some of the heat off the guy. At least he got his truck back some what fast.

I had shaking like a miss, flashing check engine light, stalled I started back up drove to the dealership in limp mode. They looked at I know it was bad when 4 mechanics were standing around the front of the truck and they want to put me in a loaner.

This is a totally reasonable explanation.

Strange he didn’t mention the lease though. Did you two compare where your vehicles were manufactured?

I’m still going to go on assuming you’re the OP. Either way, will be more entertaining.

That in no way determines that it has a similar issue as OP such as a broken valve spring or that they even determined what exactly the problem was.

What is the vin # of the truck that had the problem and what dealership is it at?

    My money is on this.

Partner, some of the little idiosyncracies in the writing style are an exact match. I'm not saying that's proof positive by any means, especially since I only briefly read 5 examples, but it does make me go hmm.

    This thread just got interesting-er.

Would MTV’s Catfish be interested in this story? Do we all get to visit the OP with Nev and sit around the table with him at his parent’s house and hear how his childhood was messed up and this is how he compensates?

If you’re in Michigan it either has to be in the shop 30 days or the repair failed a certain number of times. To meet Lemon Law requirements that is.

Not always the case I have talked with the rep from Toyota if Toyota lawyers know more about an issue they could buy it back. I know my case is a long shot but noway this issue does not get some visibility without someone complaining.

You have certainly established credibility with an issue. Thanks for providing this.

edit... the complaint was posted but had detailed information beyond the vin # that he did not want made public so it was edited and removed..

Hopefully it can be determined exactly what caused the catastrophic issue with your Tacoma
and you obtain positive results from Toyota or adequate compensation.

Did your Tacoma have miles on it when you took possession from the dealership at time of purchase?

This thread is the only thing listed on google with any relevance towards a 3rd gen broken valve spring which seems to indicate that this type of problem up until this point in time has been next to nil.
