Another thing I have a serious problem with is taking orders from people who are obviously not as smart as I am...

This wasn't just limited to taking orders; I encounter cashiers and other retail employees who are literally dumb as a brick and, for example, can't do basic math. I'm not particularly good at math, especially algebra, but I know more than enough to get by in life and keep from getting ripped off. In the past, I've gotten into huge arguments with cashiers over not getting the proper amount back...

Ice (like in bags from 7-Eleven, Wawa, or the grocery store) is considered food in Pennsylvania, and food is not taxed; One time we were swamped at Puck and one of the icemakers wasn't keeping up, so my boss sent me to get more ice, and I went to 7-Eleven...

7-Eleven is obviously an international chain with stores in multiple countries, and when corporate prints out signs and merchandise for North American stores they have the same stuff; As such, the signs on the icebox doors of Pennsylvania 7-Elevens say "PLUS TAX WHERE APPLICABLE"...

Like I said, Pennsylvania does not charge sales tax on food, and ice is considered food! This was not ice for personal use, but a whole shitload of it for a busy bar, and the final bill for all of it was in excess of fifty bucks if I remember correctly. I forget whether I paid cash or used my by boss's credit card, but I'd been given a limit on how much I could spend, and I'd worked out in my head how many bags I'd be getting and how much it would all cost. When the cashier rang up the total, it came out to a bit more than I thought it should have; I asked what the deal was and cashier said it was sales tax...

This is where the argument started; I knew for a fact that bags of ice were nontaxable in Pennsylvania, and I tried to explain it to this guy. The moron pointed at the "PLUS TAX WHERE APPLICABLE" on the freezer, and I about ran myself in circles trying to convince the fuckwit that it was a universal sign at 7-Elevens all over the country which stated that some states did charge sales tax on ice (but Pennsylvania was not one of them). Pennsylvania has 6% sales tax statewide (8% in Philly; Unsure about Pittsburgh), so tax on anything over thirty or forty bucks is not particularly cheap and can be anger-inducing if you are from a state that has lower taxes or no sales tax at all! It can also be anger-inducing if the moron cashier misreads a sign and manually adds tax to something that isn't supposed to be taxed!

I probably could bought another 20-pound bag of ice for what that idiot charged me in tax, but I was in a rush and had to get back to the bar, so I begrudgingly paid the taxed amount and left; My boss was not as upset as I was, but I stopped going to that particular 7-Eleven on ice runs for another reason (read below)...

I loved this 7-Eleven compared to the Wawa on the other side of Doylestown for numerous reasons, but then this dude named Julius started working there regularly...

He was probably in his forties, but he looked a lot older; He had a beard, and he generally seemed unclean. I'd say he was an asshole, a douchebag, and a scumbag all rolled into one!

    He was just generally unpleasant to deal with, and then the straw that broke the camel's back came one busy Friday or Saturday night when I went there on an ice run; I'd already loaded the ice into the truck and was finalizing the purchase when Julius got a look of pure anger in his eyes and, without a word, rushed out the door and to my truck. He walked up to the back of my truck and started counting every single bag of ice; He thought I was trying to rip him off and I was utterly insulted. Some words were exchanged, and I left;
That was the last time I went to that 7-Eleven on an ice run for months!

One time when I went there during the day, presumably either for a Slurpee for myself or cigarettes for my boss (or both), there was this Indian guy who I believe to be one of the owners working the counter; He was very nice, and on a whim I told him about my past experiences with Julius. He rolled his eyes, assured me that Julius no longer worked there, and insisted that I come to his store whenever I needed ice. For last two years or so I worked at Puck, the Indian guys were always very nice and even helped me load the ice into my truck if they weren't busy with other customers!

On the flip side of what happened at 7-Eleven with the clerk thinking I was stealing ice, I once grabbed too many bags of ice when buying it for the bar at the Acme supermarket; The woman at the checkout did not notice, and I didn't either until I started counting off the bags of ice one by one as I put them in the bed of the truck. I forget whether I brought the extra ice back in and gave it back, or left it in the truck and paid for it, but I went back to the same female employee and explained my mistake; I made it right, she thanked me for being so honest, and all was well!

One thing I can't stand is being called a thief or a liar, because I am about as honest as they come! I've told my share of "little white lies" when the situation called for it, to keep things from escalating or to prevent someone from feeling bad, but calling me a thief or a liar is right up there with talking shit on my family...

I am about as honest as they come (sometimes too honest), and I do not take kindly to people questioning my integrity under any circumstances!

Last year l stopped at a convenience store because l really needed to use the bathroom, got halfway down the aisle and noticed an Out Of Order sign hanging on the door so l quickly turned around and headed back out towards my truck. When l got to my truck l noticed the cashier was standing right behind me taking a picture of me and my truck, l asked if there was a problem and he turned around and headed back inside.

I do not consider myself special needs (never have), but while public record will show that I graduated from high school in 2007 at the age of 18 and I stopped actually going to the actual school in probably June 2008, I was technically in a special needs program until 2010 (age 21); Kids in these classes ranged from having varying severe intellectual and mental disabilities to borderline normal like me. A good number of them had driver's licenses and their own cars, and almost all of them including the ones that did not drive had jobs (I didn't get a driver's license until May 2011 and I did not get a job on my own until October 2013); My job at Puck, which I got in November 2014 at the age of 25, was the first job I didn't get through the special ed system that lasted more than a few weeks!

What do you know about a neurological disorder called Huntington's Disease...?

By October-November 2008, I moved to another "class" because I didn't get along with the teacher who ran the first one; I graduated from this program in June 2010. At the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year, a kid in his late teens or early twenties entered the group and he had one of the saddest stories ever; I believe he turned 21 in 2009, so that would put his birthdate somewhere in late 1988, and he had a debilitating illness called Huntington's Disease. As sad as it is, I don't think he's even alive anymore because back in 2010 they were saying he'd be lucky to see 27 or 28, and if he is still alive he'd be 32 or close to it...

When he first came into the group, I thought he was severe lower-functioning autistic or even mentally retarded, based on how he acted. It didn't take long for his antics to piss off everyone in the class; He had been diagnosed with Huntington's Disease at some point in his teens, and his mom had opted not to tell him about the diagnosis because apparently there is a high suicide rate among people who have it. This poor guy's antics pissed me and the other students off so much that the teachers made an executive decision to tell us about his disease so we'd be a bit more compassionate and understanding. This decision succeeded in making us a lot more compassionate, but we were not allowed to repeat any of this to the guy because his mom didn't want him knowing.

The kid knew he had diabetes, and I don't remember if he was born with it or diagnosed around the same time as the Huntington's Disease diagnosis; I believe it was the latter. As a result of the Huntington's, this kid almost completely lost his eyesight and regressed to the mental capacity of a preschooler; All the while, his mom and those closest to him continued to make him think everything was a result of the diabetes, and from what I remember I was told he was pretty much normal before the disease took over...

One of his most annoying traits was that he copy/imitate just about everything he heard, typically by repeating casual conversations between two other people. This became such a problem that other students would end up screaming at him to "Stop copying!"

He also had an obsession with mirrors, specifically looking at himself in the mirror; He had an aide who took care of him when his parents were busy, and I happened to run into them at the mall in 2011 or 2012. We made small talk, and his aide told me that sometimes she'd make him ride in the backseat of her Altima because he would play with the vanity mirror in the passenger side sun visor, and distract her.

One time during a class picture, he let loose one of the most thunderous farts I'd ever heard at that point in my life; The whole class was utterly disgusted and scattered immediately! He just ripped ass right where he stood, didn't even warn anybody; I'm pretty sure he said "excuse me" after being prompted to by a teacher, but I don't think he really knew what he did wrong. He really had to fart, and dammit, he was gonna do it!

He graduated alongside me in June 2010, and like I said I saw him again at the mall in 2011 or 2012, but I haven't seen him since; I don't think he is with us anymore, and like I said it one of my saddest memories from school :(

The key, I've found, is to spread your lights across multiple circuits throughout the house. I have mine spread across 6 circuits and have no issues with tripping breakers, and I have mixture of incandescent and LEDs.

These are a couple of the cats we were talking about. Bear is the gray and white one, he was the staving, dirty cat with a broken pelvis, shattered leg, and full of shrapnel. And Goober was the one that got killed by my neighbors dog that escaped, it was a terrible experience as l tried so hard to smack that dog off her with half a broken broomstick, had many nightmares for quite awhile after that and the experience caused me to not want another pet again. I can say l am happy that someone dumped Murray on my porch 4 years ago cause she helped heal those bad feelings and l enjoy having a pet again.

Good morning; Currently waiting on mods to consolidate quite a few more older threads into this one! Back in the day (2016-2017; Before you joined), I had a habit of posting whatever was on my mind and it annoyed many other members who saw it as “hogging” forums. Luckily, the mods stepped in an merged a bunch of my threads, giving me my own personal BS thread.

The Aspergers Thread and Build Thread were originally two different things, but one of the mods merged them for me at my request in late 2019. There was also another kinda-sorta build thread that in the 5-lug section that I had merged into this one.

I’ve decided to merge a shitload of older, seldom-viewed threads into this one so I don’t give the appearance of having such a big presence on TW.

I just remembered a YouTube incident from maybe a decade ago at the most; Just about everyone on TW knows about my HVAC obsession...

I made a video of an ICP central air-conditioner running and put it on YouTube; Any dedicated HVAC nut will tell you that ICP is the abbreviation for International Comfort Products. ICP is owned by the same company as Carrier and Bryant, and if you’ve never heard of Carrier then you are kind of an idiot...
