very good question man. my only reason for holding back. a group of sales may be the lever needed for it.

 

Yes I did. I am using the gen 2 1GR variants. They fit with a little coercion and so far, no issues. Idle seems smoother, power output didn't seem to change outstandingly but hey, I'll take a smoother idle any day.

How are you determining and quantifying "bad batches of E85", "E-40", "E60", etc? Genuinely curious.

 

I would consider it a bad batch if they are selling E85 and in reality you are pumping e40 into your vehicle. I guess that's the issue right, say you go to a pump and you get e85 at a perfect 85% ratio of ethanol. Then you go and get your vehicle tuned. Then the next time you fill up, you get less than 85%. You can cause harm to your motor, it would be like us putting in 87 instead of 91+. Now if you have a station that you use regularly and test and they are consistently supply quality e85 you probably have nothing to worry about.

Edit: I also want to add I believe stations can legally sell E85 with only 51% ethanol.

 

The apparent travesty of ASTM 5798 is that it seemingly allows a wide ethanol volume variance to be considered E85. I'm going to pull it up tomorrow at work to see what it says.

 

Well to begin with not a single gas station will have full E85. Most will get close but none will really ever be fully 85%. Only “real” E85 is if you buy it in 55 gallon drums or 5 gallon buckets. Around me most is e78 which from my research talking to tuners for my f80 they all kinda said that as long as it’s above a 60% it won’t really make too much of a difference since they aren’t pushing it fully. Now let’s say you tune for specifically ignite red which is e90 that’s a different story. But then again I’m no expert and for that same reason on my f80 I’ll be going to a flex fuel for just ease of use for me. I was more curious in this group because it seems a lot of people are spending money on parts that In my opinion won’t really give too much more power and I feel like e85 would be easier and cheaper power

Few people having them leak. Mines been rock solid since I installed mine.

 

Leaking issues, and wildly inconsistent clutch petal feel and engagement.

 

I am in for some of the coil packs just based on the stand up customer service rep alone when they get it sorted.

Yet we still pay the same price for "E85." Legally we should pay an adjusted price for a lower octane rating if that's the case.

+1. I considered one of these, but backed away based on the number of problems (and inadequate support) reported.

IIRC, many of the issues have been discussed in the 2nd gen manual transmission fix thread. You should touch based with @BillDaCat8 who, as I recall, has had one of the more negative experiences.

+1 to both of these ^^. Experiences seem to vary widely with Clutch Masters, which is enough for me to stay away.

 

i bet there are more people that havent had issues than have. mine has been awesome since install. and i know a few others that havent had any issues with theirs
