vsc/trac warning beep... make it stop!

does anybody know how to disable the god damn vsc/trac warning buzzer on 09(10)'s?
i'm getting pretty sick of the damn thing going off everytime i make a turn on a snow covered road.

 

Yes, move to Florida. You are pretty much stuck unless you want to disable the system completely. You could go to the dealer and ask them as well.

 

i don't want to disable the whole system. just get rid of the beep.

I've been driving around in the snow for the past week--it only goes off when the back end gets squirrelly. How hard are you driving?

 

not hard at all. i like to make the back end slip out purposely at times and the damn beeper seems like it never stops.

 

Yeah, that'll do it. I think it's there to let you know it's working (and that you reached the 'limits'). Maybe to keep people from getting too complacent about driving hard in slick conditions.

What if you could just reduce the volume? Somewhere in the dash is a piezo beeper. A sticker or a piece of electrical tape over its output hole would reduce the volume.

 

you can disassemble the dash and eliminate the beeper. it gets rid of the stupid dinging whaen the door is open too

 

i dontthink the op wants to turn the trac/ vsc off he wants to stop the beeping...

 

Yea, find the pizzo and tape it up or clip it out... that's all I'd know of.

It looks like the VSC buzzer (V7) is the source of the annoying sound.

I'm going to take a trip to the dealership when I get some time off work to see if it can be disabled electronically before I disassemble my dash to find the buzzer.

 

Dealership will not disable any type of warning/advisory type lights or chimes.

this truck is absolutely no fun to drive in the snow

I LOVE my winter driving, but that damn beeper came on in the middle of a drift and the VSC straightened me and left me pointed directly at a tree

ABS sure seems sensitive when braking on ice/snow too.

 

That depends completely on your tires. For instance, stock dunlops will cause your ABS to kick in at every stop on snow. Switching to an AT tire, for instance, will likely result in it never kicking in due to the better traction. So if ABS is kicking in all the time, you likely aren't using the correct tire for your environment.

 

This is true, when I had the stock Dunflops, my ABS would kick in on the smallest bump while stopping. Since I put the BFG AT's on it I haven't felt it once.

 

I too am a bit annoyed by the frequent warning on snow covered roads. It doesn't have to be aggressive driving...sharp corners or even pot holes will set it off.

And I also agree that this truck is not fun in the winter....IF you leave the systems turned on. When I get into an empty snow covered parking lot, I stop and disable all of the safety systems. Then it's GO TIME!!! Once the truck is restarted, the systems automatically turn back on. I suppose it's good they are there but you have to remember to turn them off before having any fun.

 

Your truck is lifted, correct?
It is common for the lift to through the system out of tolerance, maybe yours is a little sensitive .

thanks for the tip moose, I am still running the dunlops, would like to change, perhaps nearly rearending that person coming down the hill today is reason enough....

 

Don't complain guys. Atleast we can still disable the traction control fully. My buddy with a new dodge ram with the 5.7L can't even fully disable his !
