Easiest way to raise a stock 98' TRD 4x4 Xtended Cab?

I am looking for the easiest way to raise a stock 1998 TRD 4x4 Xtended Cab. What should I buy? Anyone have a "how do" instructions?

Also how high do you think I should jack up my truck and look its best? I am running 32 x 11.5 x 15 Tires.

I think a 3-4 inch or so lift would be fine...

 

I think the BEST way is OME 881, wheelers 5 leaf pack, Bilstein 5100 all around. Get all new hardware. Might as well do your steering rack bushings and sway bar bushings. I did this all by myself. I can give you tips (get a cutting wheel for the I bolts etc. etc...) if you decide to go that way

 

What are you plans for the truck? OME are cheaper than Coil overs, But coils are better. If you want to wheel it at all and want an adjustadle lift get Coils. If you just want alittle lift and dont want to wheel it, you could run some sort of coil spacer. They stiffin up the front end and dont ride good off road but they are cheap. Just remeber what ever way you deside to go "You get what you pay for".

 

If he/you have a v6 then 882s would carry the weight of the v6 and that bumper better and not sag as bad.

 

Yes, it has the V6 and winch.

I don't mind paying extra for parts, I am just looking for what is easiest to install and will last the longest.

 

Coils would be the easiest. they come assembled and are ready to rock. also w/ coils i have read that you no longer need your sway bar, and it can be removed w/o hurting anything. Once the coilovers get some miles on them they need to be rebuilt. I dont have coil (yet) so i am not much help on how long they last, but i would think i depended on how you used them. A life on the street seems like they would not need the rebuild as soon as some used off road. Search TTORA, and Pirate for better info on coils and what brands are better than others.

 

I am wanting to buy a lift today for Christmas for my son.

It is my understanding that Bilstein 5100 all around is easy to install? The 5100's will give me 2.5" of lift?

No go on that MowTaco. After my oldest son turns 16 and starts driving, I have another son 15 months younger that I have to prepare for.

I started adding up the other day of all the "improvements" to this Tacoma and I quit adding at 5000. That is with me doing all the labor for "free".

I like this Tacoma but, I am about ready for these improvement projects to be over

 

if you did end up going with ome i would recommend the 883 springs. I have them with no additional weight up front and they ride a lil rough (but to my liking). With the extra weight you have up front im sure they'd be perfect.
