So probably an amateur question here. But how likely is a roof rack to impact ride height? My guess is none to minimal/unnoticed, but not confident I really know enough. I get a bumper impacting the front or a hard shell with roof top tent the rear...but seems like sliders and a roof rack would just kind of be neutral.

TLDR: Anyone running the performance pack with a pretty heavy rig? Any regrets?

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm joining the Ironman suspension club, just picked up a stage 2 foam cell pro setup this morning.

Performance springs in the front, Constant load for the rear leafs.

My truck has about 650lbs base added weight. (Shell, RTT, skids, sliders, plywood storage drawer).

That's my daily load, but I add a good bit more when loaded up for a trip.

Catching up on this thread, seems like the constant load leaf pack might be overkill for my daily use, but good when I'm fully loaded.

I'm local to Ironman, and they are cool with swapping the constants for performance packs, since I haven't installed anything.

Seems like I'd be better off with the performance pack, and then some airbags for when I'm fully loaded up.

Anyways, I was going to ask you guys questions, but I think typing this all out has helped me make up my mind.

Anyone running the performance pack with a pretty heavy rig? Any regrets?

Pic for attention, and also to note the sag on my stock OR suspension. Rear leafs are not happy. This pic was taken when I was running a fairly light load for me.

I think sliders can but I guess depending on the rack threat might too. Cant help any more than that.

    So in effect:
Performance leaf pack — factory weight to 440 lbs of additional load
Constant load leaf pack — 400 lbs to say, 1200 lbs. of additional load*

It really is tough to say... Based on my previous assessment, it seems you ought to be in the constant load weight range, however performance seems to far exceed that weight rating. I don’t know much about air bags but I reckon they’ll deliver quite a lot on top of the performance pack. However, I think I’m okay with the extra leafs sitting in the garage from the constant load, should I ever need them.

I just installed the constants on the rear and think I gained around 2” of lift minus the 5th and 3rd leaf. I may have rummed up the measurements and forgot what they were beforehand :D

    Edit: photo duh

Also, fuck me silly, but do pay attention when dismantling and re-assembling the leaf packs. I made some serious dumbass blunders and well, really made things harder than they needed to be.

    To note,
The center pin has the rounded head to the bottom of the arc. This is what fits into the alignment hole of the leaf perch on the axle. I did, btw, have no issue with thread distance on the center pin after the removal of two leafs (5th and 3rd from top).

Second, pay close attention to how the overload leafs get added back in. One side will have no bolt over the top the clasp, and that is to be put towards the rear. While the clasp without the bolt has a smaller, threaded hole which is what the e-brake bracket gets re-installed into.

Third, since they’re not marked, the scooped end of the leaf goes towards the front and you will also be re-using the stock shackles on the rear. Just pay attention to all these small details as it matters greatly when putting this bitch back in.

    Thanks!
So you basically got about 2" with the performance leaf pack, and a couple extra leafs for storage, just in case situation changes. I like that.

I just don't see my rig getting that much heavier, and I'm not looking for more than 2". I'm ok with a little sag when loaded up, but that could be addressed with airbags instead of swapping leafs out.

As I was lubing up the shackle bushings, I was wondering if any grease and/or treatment in between the leafs might remedy this issue. It is the leafs squeaking against one another right?

No worries. Honestly, I‘ll have to think about it a little harder for what the before measurements were to commit to that number. And no, I installed the constants minus the 3rd and 5th leaf. Which, I believe is the difference between the constant and performance leaf packs.

Edit: Unless, that is what you meant by “basically the performance” ... o_O
