If you like it and want to keep using it, buy it.

If you want something else, sell it. As I understand you can do this, with your private buyer paying you your equity and buying out the lease just like you would. No reason to buy it then resell, messing with taxes and all that.

IMHO never trade it. Actually never trade anything. 100% a winning hand for the house.

No it's not, depends on how well of a negotiator you are and if your state is a tax credit state. Especially with Tacomas. I've always managed to get KBB private party value for trade-in on my clean stock trucks, not trade in value, and then when you factor in not having to pay taxes on the new vehicle but only the difference between trade it's a way smarter move. I paid less than $400 in taxes when I moved from my 19 to my 20. They gave me $35000 for my 19 with 6k miles that I paid $37k for, they turned around and listed it as certified for $36.5k and sold in days.

Congrats! At 28K you won't find a better deal. Worst case scenario if you decide you don't want it anymore you can easily sell it private party without losing any money. Tacomas (especially double cabs and TRD trims) hold their values ridiculously well. Also, as an auto broker I have noticed that prices have gone up and a lot of dealers aren't bargaining as much as they used to.
