TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

anybody know of a release date for the double roller idler pulleys? getting tired of hearing the ferret under my hood.

 

I've got a couple under there. I call them Codo and Podo

 

was wondering too. i never heard back from them when I tried to reach out

 

i think alot of the problem with clutch feel is a bad bleed. especially with the long ass line thats not needed since its meant for a FJ Cruiser. shorter line should help or running the long line up to the engine area. i didnt. and mine is rpetty consistent.

and the seal is either bad or they had a bad machine batch would be my guess

 

@BillDaCat8 recommended I either get a shorter line or shorten the line to around 20" so I went to a hydraulics shop and had them chop it down.

I think that definitely helped. My fingers are crossed on the seal but I believe overall most people have had good experiences with the set up.

I’ve done plenty of bitching about Clutchmasters in the other thread.

The bottom line is that I received a defective product and the “support” has been abysmal.

Kevin there even copped attitude with me the first time it started leaking.

This company does not deserve your money.

 

On the bright side; I am getting pretty good at tranny removal and installation. Three times in 12 months. Practice makes perfect. Thanks @ClutchMasters

 

That pisses me off. A company that can't back their shit does not deserve our money. Especially if they act like douches. Already invested in it so I hope no issues pop up. Knock on wood.

 

I think the gamble may be too big for me to see if mine will work once installed......I’m on the fence.

 

Btw. Thanks to @BillDaCat8. I eyeballed the wrap mod and had my friends shop cut it. Came out good for just guesstimating. Here is is on the wrong bolt of the bracket. Am I wrong or do the holes want to strip on torque to spec so i just snugged them up. And you can see I put a screwed a bolt thru after tapping pass thru and nut on back Didn't do it after I relocated to proper position though

My turbo came with the same driveway warranty too.

 

So I ran the supplied hydraulic line all the way up to the master cylinder. Wasnt too much excess. I've pumped it to bleed it and used a pressure bleeder. Perhaps another bleed.....

 

Gravity alone, should help get things moving out of the bleed screw. Then pump. This not working for you?

I’ve had mine on there for quite a while now. No issues. I do have a spare ready to go “just in case”. That bearing is spinning a bit faster than it would be in the kraut motor. I’m super happy with the Gates RPM belt too. It still looks good. Been on there for like 8k miles now.

I never goofed with that particular bolt hole. Just the hole intended to use to mount it. I tightened it by feel. Couldn’t tell you the spec. Just experience for the feel I guess.

 

Yeah my truck came with it installed from the dealer with 17miles otherwise I probably would have done it myself. 130k-ish miles later and it has never come off. Also can’t now without some but considering I put 3k miles on the truck last year I’m not too concerned about ease of maintenance

 

Nice I was thinking of that but no means to cut it. Been running sans wrap and rousche without issue. What pulley you running?
