Not sure. The only time I've ever felt it rub is when backing out of my driveway or a parking spot and I turn full lock. I just back off by about an eighth of a turn. Even then I don't always because it's so minor and isn't hurting anything. Off road I've never felt it rub the UCA since I don't think I've ever been in a situation where the tires are at full lock and I'm going in reverse. It really is barely noticeable at all since the edge of the tire lugs just barely catch it on the corner of the UCA. You can see in this pic the white/silver marks where the lugs barely rub. The area without dirt is just from me wiping it with my hand, not the tires.

Super stoked to be moving to 35s in the next two weeks. Just order ray 10s with 4.3” BS. Have the high caster JBAs and cutting is about to start. I’m really having a hard time deciding on tires though. Any input would be appreciated!

    edit: looking for 35x12.5r17 A/T

It’s hard to go wrong with the name brands. I’d say it depends on the use. Since you’re PNW may want to stay away from K02 as I’ve read multiple times they’re poor in rain.

    Toyo, Falken, General, all great.

I'd 2nd those Falken Wildpeaks https://www.walmart.com/ip/Falken-Wildpeak-AT3W-LT245-75R17-Tire/54383687 I had a set on a 4Runner that wore really nice and were great in the snow and rain.

Is that because of tire weight? At this size, most people are running a heavier truck and are doing at least moderate off roading. I think the stronger sidewall of an E load is really important.

I’d prefer load C as well if it was more widely available. Load E is still pretty stiff for our trucks, even fully loaded down.

weirdly enough, the weights are .6 lbs difference between load C and load E based on the chart here for 315/70R17 But yeah +1 to the previous poster, load E is much stiffer. also more expensive! my local dealer is america's tire (discount tire for california)

Load C can be better because it will actually wrap around rocks and make airing down more worth it. I've had no sidewall issues with my load range C. I think it comes more down to luck, I think I've actually seen more Es get punctured because they don't flex.

I think the advantage of airing down is more in the length footprint increase than in the sidewall warping over objects.

    regardless, hope you enjoy it.

No, airing down is definitely two-fold for flotation on terrain and flexing the tire. The tread being able to wrap itself over a rock in a sense is going to provide more traction for rock crawling than a tire with a stiff sidewall.

Airing down is about maximizing surface area of the tire to the ground. Not just increasing the width of the tire.
If you were building a mud truck, you would be right, you want more width and don't need it to wrap around rocks. But for most people, they will see a greater benefit in off-road traction with a C over an E.
