Nice! By the looks of it, it was a GT 390 car with a factory fiberglass hood. Pretty rare care. :)

Wow! That’s a sweet ride with a 427 side oiler / high rise dual quad setup. Rare motor, that fit under the hood without modification?

There was another Marine i knew who was also stationed at MCAS El Toro that had a 66 Ford Fairlane with a 427 Tunnel Port and 4 spd . Between my Cyclone and his Fairlane , the MP's didn't like our cars

I knew a guy a little older than me who had been a SEAL in Vietnam. He bought a Road Runner in the Carolinas. He said it was a moonshiner car. Blue, black steel wheels with little hubcaps, rubber floor mats, bench seat. Drum brakes all around. 426 hemi automatic. He could push the brake and gas pedal at a standstill and the body of the car would twist. Scary car.

lol, yep. The 426 HEMI from back then had 500 foot pounds of torque. One mean beast. In high-school [late 1970’s] one of my best friends had a 1969 1/2 Roadrunner 440 Six Pack A12 car. A very rare car today. It was his dads car. His dad blew the motor up so he dropped in a 426 HEMI and my buddy on occasion would take it out. I rode in it several times. Thing was a beast with a 4-speed. I remember going to a concert in Denver in it driving an hour each way. We pulled into a gas station to gas it up. It had a black fiberglass scooped hood that lifted off via 4 hood pins. It took two people to take the hood off to check the oil and whatnot. We pulled the hood off and here sat this monster motor all polished with dual 4 barrel carbs. It attracted quite the audience.

It was yellow with the black 440 Six Pack fiberglass hood identical to this. With black steel wheels.

Yes his dad let him take this car out loaded with a HEMI and a 4-Speed. Guess who got all the girls?

Pulled off the net but identical to this.

I was 15 and on a learners permit. When I did turn 16 my first car was a 1972 Plymouth Fury II with a 318. I can vouch that it went 110 MPH pretty easily and the brakes had serious fade issues. Lol

So many memories with that car. Here’s one that comes to mind. Mid day and heading back to school after going to McDonald’s. I’m driving down a 4-lane country road that had a slight gradual curve. It was tree lined so it created a blind spot. I had the bright idea of seeing how fast the car could go. I punched it and got up close to the 100mph 105 Mark. As I’m coming around the curve here’s several cop cars and officers in the middle of the road, one flagging people over. I could barely get the car to stop in time as he came up to my window. They were having a safety and registration check point. He comes up and says, going a bit fast there weren’t you? Duh! Ummm yes, sorry officer. They proceeded to do the safety check on my vehicle. I drove off sweating bullets and a fix it ticket for my rear license plate bulb was out. I couldn’t believe he didn’t give me a speeding ticket or a wreck-less driving ticket. I also couldn’t believe how fast the car went and how bad the brakes were.

I can’t find a photo of that car but it was identical to this in the same B5 blue color.

    Pulled off the net.
