Has anyone looked at the market for Tacoma's lately? It's freaking nuts... People are asking more for used than brand new...

I am not sure why people do this with rigs with many bolt ons. If the rig had many one off fabricated items, I could see some money in that. At some point I think its kinda crazy. Are dealerships running out of inventory? I would prefer a newish vehicle over used just because all the bolts aren't rusted yet.

So you're okay with someone leaving metal trash in the backcountry that causes a massive spectacle by social media morons but get bent because the local guys that cleaned up said metal trash left a piece behind in the dark. Got it.

Right? I might as well just buy a brand new one at this point. There are even people trying to sell second gens made in 07 with 150k miles on them for $26k... These trucks don't have anything on them, some just have puck lifts but that's it, nothing crazy or special. Even salvage titled ones are pushing mid $30k's. I don't think it's an inventory issue, I can order in a brand new one right now and get it in less than a month.

Yeah, I’m going to sell my ‘20 and buy again later (I don’t need a vehicle and we’ve still got my wife’s JLUR). May not do Tacoma next time, or I may :p I may do a Tundra if I like the new gen.

Yeah it’s crazy. And even crazier is that’s been happening on and off for as long as I can remember with Tacomas.

At the beginning of the pandemic I thought I wanted to sell my taco, but I am keeping it. I wanted 23k for it since it has long travel front and rear, and some decent (professional) fabrication in the bed for the cage (2011, 6-spd, e-locker, 100k mi). This also has tons of other mods (gears, custom tent rack, etc). I was mainily up-charging for the long travel and not the other stuff. 4wd pre-runners are hot items in SoCal/ Nevada/ Az. People don't understand that it cost over $12K to do a decent long travel setup.

I had one or two decent offers but I got a lot of low ball ones. The low ball offers were well below my year/ mileage NADA/kbb value for a completely stock truck.

Basically aim high, and then hopefully settle on the price you once envisioned. Now for stock vehicles... that is crazy.

Yeah I get the customized rigs, like I said some have cheap lifts in them but yes mostly stock. It's crazy right now, I'm probably going to go brand new through Tony Divino in Ogden. My dad buys a lot of his work vehicles through them and I can get a really good deal.

Can he get me a deal on locking in Bronco pricing with a Ford dealer? haha I have a reservation, but still slightly on the fence on ordering one next year. I plan on keeping my taco since I need a dependable vehicle for when one of the turbos shits itself... haha.

I reserved one as well but recently cancelled it. Talking to my buddy at the ford dealership in provo and he was saying it probably wouldn't be till 2022 till I saw mine. Best case scenario end of 2021. My wife still wants one so I'll wait a couple years till they work the kinks out and get one then when they're readily available. As far as the motor goes, those ecoboost motors are actually REALLY good, i'll give Ford props on that.

Yea, it will be a while. I have a July reservation. Even if I order in january, I probably wouldn't see it till October. I know the reservation allocations are different than dealer inventory. I think the reservations would be filled first or along with dealers. It is really going to depend on the build. I either want a badlands or black diamond with the 2.7, 10spd, Mid package, Mic Top, and tow package. Nothing special. The badlands is like 5K more than the black diamond with this configuration. I kinda want to lean towards the badlands due to the swaybar disconnect. My taco hasn't had one for years, but the long travel helps being wider and has much stiffer springs/ valving over stock.

I also would like to see a comparison of the RTI ramp with a badlands/ swaybar disconnected, and then black diamond with the sway bar on (same size tires for the test). Supposedly IFS swaybars are designed to not limit articulation, but I have seen posts on this issue that are all over the place.

I might cheap out and get the black diamond and just remove the swaybar from day 1. Also a front locker an IFS are questionable. I would rather have a winch vs. the front locker.

Yeah I was going with the black diamond as well. I think the swaybar disconnect is really cool especially while under load but like with a front locker i've never needed it for what I do, hence staying with the BD package originally for me, especially since you're just paying for a swaybar disconnect with the badlands and tech package if you want that. After doing some research and seeing lead times i'll just sit back and see how the launch goes. I'm not worried about the power train at all, Ford has done pretty good with the platform over the past 10 years or so. When I priced mine out, I was ~$46k all in with taxes & delivery fee for the 4 door BD.
