Yes it can. I worked with HPTuners some time ago to get that sorted out.

    Help!!!

I borrowed an old pc, I started uploading the new file into the truck, looked at power, 20% so I grabbed the charger, by the time I could plug it in, the laptop died! I got it fired back up on the charger and tried restarting the transfer, and it says transfer failed....

    Truck will not start.

I am sorry to tell you this but it sounds like you have probably bricked the ecu.
Your options now would be to find a used ecu of the same model year and trans truck, which then you may have to buy more hptuner credits, or if you can get in contact with @OVTune I believe he has a way to unbrick ecus. I imagine getting ahold of him right now may not be easy since it is holiday season.

    :(

We do not provide un-bricking services anymore unless it's to one of our customers.

Not sure what you've tried, but I would also try to read the ecu. Truck not starting doesn't look good, and if you can't read or write it, looks even worse, sorry to say.

Interestingly enough, I'm getting the same error as @Tbertrand. I can start my vehicle, however.

From what I experienced, you get it if you have just assigned your credits to your ECU and you try to write a tune before you resync the interface. Once you assign your credits and sync it again, it writes.

So I initially did as you described with assigning the credits. However, I've resynced multiple times and I'm still getting the same error.

Do you have WiFi at the truck when attempting to flash?

@JustDSM should be on the shortlist for Time's Person of the Year. Thank you again for your help.

For future reference, do not have your truck running when attempting to write to the ECU. That was my mistake. Just have the key to the on position and follow the instructions.

About to check out this goodness.

I am curious if @JustDSM has had a chance to play with the ovtune stuff. Since he is now only repairing bricked ecus if you own his products that does give him a bit of an advantage to hptuners. Unless someone else here knows how to unbrick ecus?

Looks like you have a 4cylinder. Does HPTuners support the 2TR-FE now?

Just upgraded to my dream truck with the 4.0 V6. The old 5 speed in my other truck had almost no rev hang, so it’s a big difference going to a tranny where I push my clutch in and the revs stay where they are for two seconds.

I have looked at the VFTuner software in it's initial release form for the 3rd Gen, however I have not (yet) had a chance to see what it's like for the 4.0L. I've had a chat with Mat, and once it's available I will be giving it a whirl. I do intended to support all 4.0L platforms with VFTuner and will also continue to offer HPTuners support.
