    lol Newsome.

No, but from what I know , I can infer why he's getting pushed back - just like everyone else.
There was the big miss of the camper on the 3rd gens not fitting the second and first . Them re-designing has chewed up most of the time they thought they would be building.
There are a couple other things such as hiring people, growing a business that took away from the build and design time.

Its expected really. I dont really wanna talk about it on a public forum, but you culd debate whether certain things should have been complete before sending prelim dates. I think the excitement can get away from everyone.

I firmly believe that when the design is actually complete, and they can comfortably build, campers will be getting hammered out. Just not there yet I dont think.

its sad there design cant be set up for all gens like how some others do it. And just create different door seal vs changing everything, but I'm not on the floor seeing the issues. That was one plus cause i know at some point i could move the camper to another truck. Or helps with resale when you have more years fit the camper

yah that was my opinion if you ever decide to resell it but if you look at the 2nd gen on some others they do it by having a larger seal. If anything i hope this one fits like a glove and all issues are solid. but yah if you look at the count 12 by @mac_2_nite and based on what we have tracked that's about right. 3.5 months that's about 4 a month. Def under what Spencer was planning. When they were doing them 1 off he noted they could build one in 1 day given all parts were there. As @frenchee noted once wrap up all the changes they should be moving. 2-4 at a time I can see them picking up speed. They noted that they have a few more people starting next week as well.

I could see one a day, if all parts were there and everything was as it should be. Install was really 15 minutes of prepping the truck (sliding tee nuts in the track), hooking up the straps, lining it up, and dropping it down.

My 3 hour install was really them buttoning up odds and ends, with some photos and whatnot, and shouldn’t be representative of how long it takes. A streamline operation could definitely yield an X-1 a day, if they get experience on whatever truck model it’s going on

Yah I’m sure that was based off doing a short bed 3rd gen. I expect ours to be like that having what I assume is the next 2nd gen, 1st 1sr gen and another 3rd gen but first Pro. @blackmist27 plans to do some video for his channel too.

Sorry dudes, but did my 3rd gen just get a little closer? :boink:

Seriously though, if you've ever tried to build up a business, you've been there.

True... but also I (or we) signed up for a camper that was supposed to be ready in October... the waiting game sucks.

Very true we were high with the idea of actually getting one in months. But since then we have seen a ton of improvements. The new tent design, more colors, rear light etc. too bad on fitment as that’s likely holding back a sliding/removable window and venting for dogs. They noted those are 2 items at the top of the list but they need to get up to speed on orders so those likely will not be options for early adopters. Upgrades likely but not available soon.

@nudavinci64 , how would you feel about adding a column in the spreadsheet for build number, for those that have gotten them installed? Might give us an idea of how comprehensive the list is here versus how many unaccounted-for orders there are out there in the world.

Yah I’ll add that. I have the other tab that has builds who haven’t filled it out. Looks like we have all accounted for since the last one was 12. I’ll add and post in a bit. I also added a location.

Hey there all, new guy here. Many thanks to @nudavinci64 for posting up on the only ExPo thread on SP putting the word out about this thread. I'm a Tundra owner (2012 Crewmax) but will be closely following along. I have a lot of experience with a lot of different vehicles, campers, vans, etc. but these days I just own one truck, the Tundra. I'm anxious to sell my FSR hardshell and rack and have a place to stand up and put my pants on again. I'm getting too old to climb up and down ladders at night to take a leak or whatever.

Anyway, I have some knowledge on these things that I hope will be helpful here. I live in Eastern TN but travel all over the country for work and have visited Spencer and the gang at the new shop a couple months ago just as they were moving in. I will dig out some pics I took there and post them as soon as I can.

I believe that I am the second Tundra customer and hope to be picking one of these up for a friend of mine as well so I'll be getting two when I come out for pick up. My original build was supposed to be October but as we're all learning (and I know from personal experience) it's a slow process for them. I'm just glad it's winter. That helps me personally with the wait as I don't get out to camp or travel as much. Also, it's always a risk to run the 2500 miles across northern US during winter. That said, I would leave tomorrow if they contacted me.

I would love to hear from anyone who is east of the Sierras and has ordered. I am an independent owner operator truck driver and will be picking my top up in my truck/trailer, which is why it's going to be easy for me to haul my friends top back too. I originally talked to Spencer about hauling several east but he has since completely ghosted me. I understand, somewhat, that he is busy but it is frustrating to be this fired up about a product and at first get such great one-on-one with 'the guy' and then he just quits communicating. Thankfully Cindy has answered my one or two queries. Spencer hasn't answered any of the 4 texts I've sent him in as many months. I'm patient though and not worried about this, just blowing off a little steam. I think all you Tacoma owners are getting ahead of older orders on so-far unsupported trucks but I don't know that I would do it any different if i were SP.

Sorry for the novel, glad to have found this thread and happy to be in like minded company.

    Cheers

Nice! Welcome Eric! Glad you came over. As you can see we have been chatting up the SP’s for awhile. Many of us got the nice 1:1 at first but they are heads down with a bunch of stuff. we’re all eager and many past our pick up dates but excited as you to head over and pick up. Was really hoping to do it before winter and rainy season but that was always a big possibility.

I could see some folks buying in if they knew you were making a haul back east. I talked to at least 1 person who was waiting to see someone on the east coast, at Peet’s closer than Portland.

I kinda wish they sold just the canopy with a rack on top so I can use my current RTT and have the benefits of their nice aluminum canopy for the rest of the gear. I like the look of their canopy but don't want to give up my Prinsu up front nor my Ikamper RTT.

Shipping is going to be a hurdle for them, not everyone is going to make the drive. They could expand their reach exponentially with a shipping/install crew, similar to what GFC did. I talked a little about it with Spencer while I was there, bc I don’t mind driving and installs are pretty easy on these compared to other platforms. If I had the time I would drive for them.

Spencer has a ton of orders backing up, people asking repetitive questions, or asking for distracting options. Cindy is the go-to for inquiries, she is prompt and answers every bit of your emails, and she’s a really nice lady overall! I wouldn’t be surprised if Spencer changes his number soon haha, being in the shop and witnessing an install really showed how far SP can grow in terms of production and assembly

Welcome Eric, Actually Spencer mentioned you when I found out we could pick up our X1 in November. Due to work my husband and I almost had to have it shipped and Spencer said there’s a guy in Tennessee that might be able to deliver or at least get the X1 to Tennessee. So anyway we ended up driving up there from Texas to pick it up in November. I have a 2020 Tacoma. Their work crew are busy with getting everything coordinated, built, etc... We love ours it’s great, sturdy doors/hatches and the tent is durable. Hope to post some pictures of an adventure on the beach soon.

Thanks all. I know shipping will continue to be Spencer’s biggest headache. We talked about this a lot. I do a lot of specialized stuff and am set up to help him but we have a 2500 mile problem which he and I also discussed. I love going to the PNW but not in the dead of winter and I like to be home most if not all weekends, so that’s another problem.

By the time I pick up my hope is to set up several drops to different people along the way and assist with install all while giving them a significant discount on the shipping. I can’t get much further on that unless Spencer decides to help. Also, none of this matters til he gets some Tundra caps built.

If it’s not frowned on by you guys here I’ll be communicating with people through this thread and forum as my build gets closer. I’m not trying to sell anything here, just to help some others and offset my time/costs when I make the trip. I’m betting a lot of people don’t realize that it potentially costs $1500-$2000 to ship one of these. I can do a lot better than that. The more people i can help the cheaper for everyone.

I should also add that moving these is secondary, I am a fan and customer first.
