I'll start a group chat shortly. Anyone else that's interested let me know and I'll add you in. Could be a lot of fun getting together instead of circle jerkbaiting in here. See what I did there?

My wife’s wants to hang out, do I’m cancelling my solo trip.
Tough week at work and my eye is still red. I should probably chill out.

I might do a day trip to let my dog swim somewhere. Collect intel.

So are we thinking of camping and maybe throwing some lines from the shore? Or would we all plan on bringing our boats/kayaks?

Sounds like you scored on the new truck! Hell yes! Glad you were able to slide into another single cab pretty quickly. Yeah I’ll have to drive out that way one day and scout it out! Maybe Sunday if I’m around. What’s the best way over there that you take? Berryessa Knoxville road?

Heading north on Knoxville Rd. from the lake, Right on Reiff Rd which turns into Rd40, take a left at the 4way, theres a shot out sign that says buck island, the map might look a bit confusing but everything else is gated so it harder than one thinks to muck it up. Look out for big holes and soft edges on the your way out there. Rd40 is not accessible from the 16, Reiff via Knoxville is the only way in I believe. Have fun out there.

A full jerry cans also not a bad idea, pretty remote out there.

@LeonOtis soooo the lady and I took off today and ended up over there so I said “eff it” and we made the turn for that spot. Yeahhh the road back there is a bit more shitty than I thought it would be. lol. Fun for me but the wife and dog weren’t having much fun. We ended up getting just passed that lake (sucks major butt it’s private) and then turned around due to time. Ended up back on top of the hill and hiked around/made some food.

Will definitely go back at some point!

Hope I didn't lead you astray, it definitely takes a minute to get out there. By lake do you mean that small reservoir ish one with that shallow spillway you cross? Guess I'm used to 3 hour plus drives and then a hour or more on dirt to reach a destination in the pursuit of trout. Which can be painful, but we almost never do day trips for that reason. How were the road conditions? I know its get pretty washed out at times, hence the big hole marked on that map from my last trip out.

Nahhh you totally didn’t. I was expecting it to be somewhat rough being where it is (near Knox). Lol. Yeah the small reservoir with the spillway... it’s a really cool little body of water. Was disappointed to see it all barb-wired up and posted with “no trespassing” signs.

The road from shortly after entrance to almost all the way down to that reservoir is pretty crappy. I didn’t worry about my truck getting hung up on anything, but I could see someone with a stock truck puckering a little. I was in 4LO all the way up and down that section. After the reservoir, the road seemed to even out but that’s where we turned around so didn’t see anymore of the road after that.

If I had left earlier in the morning and not brought the lady, would have been a different trip forsure, but hey, now I know! Lol

4lo? Wow. Wa thinking of exploring today. Not sure my wife would enjoy that either.
I’ve done stupid things with my stock truck. I would drag hard parts?

You see any elk back there? I think I’ve hiked there from the park side before. So that “x’ shape lake is private?

Yep it’s totally blocked off. Definitely some kind of private water system dealio. No elk, but that would have been a nice treat to see! Just from the entrance to the lake I could tell there’s probably all kinds of animals out there.

I think if you take your time and go slow, you would be fine stock. It’s a pretty steep drop at one point with loads of washed out sections in the road so I think as long as you’re moving slow and creeping along with good tire placement, you won’t get hung up on anything. No service whatsoever out there either (at least for Verizon and Sprint) so definitely a good place to go prepared.

I'd be bringing my dinghy. Finally got it out on the delta yesterday, didnt catch any fish but had a blast motoring around checking out the wildlife. Views definitely didnt disappoint.

A dingy on the delta would be incredibly versatile in some of the cramp sloughs.

With me and Ieva and all our gear, we were cruising around 16 mph. Was cool to have a small enough boat to get into the reeds and pads. One of our friends brought his out as well so we did less fishing and more beering.
