It was a year ago yesterday that I trading in my 2005 for a visually identicle 2010... Silver, Double Cab, 4WD, Off Road TRD...

The 2005 had 102,000 miles on it in it's 4 1/2 years with me... and while it had three issues that Toyota wouldn't solve, overall it wasn't bad enough to jump ship to another brand.

So, I got my third Tacoma but I soon discovered that while it looked almost identicle to my 2005, this truck was a world better in ability and quality!

    1) TRAC and A-TRAC being the things that so greatly enhance the 2010's driving ease and abilty. VSC also at preventing spin-outs and loss of control... the beeper needs to be silenced however.

    2) The Soft Rear Springs of the '05 were no more an issue with the '10... no more bottoming, yea!

    3) The brakes are quiet and the ABS actually stops the truck on wet or dirt roads instead of it sliding into oblivion as it allowed my '05 to do!

The 2010 also has XM satellite radio, a backup camera, JVC stereo that my 2005 didn't have.

My truck only has 18,700 miles in one year... and that is about half what I put on my '01 and also less than on my '05... This is beacuse of the rotten economy and I have had very little work... less driving and fewer camping trips... bummer!

ONE PROBLEM, is all... and the dealer fixed it, and gave me a loaner car while they kept my truck overnight... When it was pretty new, I saw a tiny amount of tranny fluid on the garage floor (and Toyotas don't leak any kind of oil)! Seems the leak came from a plug on the passenger side of the tranny, where a speedometer cable would attach on trucks made for right hand steering countries. Our North America speedometer cable attaches on the opposite (left) side.

It seems to have been a quick year... hard to believe... but it was fun learning how different this truck is over the '05 and how better it climbs, forges through, drives over... all kinds of terrain, with ease!

I began posting on TW regularly a year ago to learn about the traction controls... now, I enjoy helping fellow Tacoma owners learn about them!

Send good business vibes my way so I can go four wheeling more and post more trip reports and photos! I hope at 2 years that I will have more than 37,400 miles on the odometer (2 x s the 1 year mileage)!

Congrats, good report. I just crossed over 1 year in my 2010 SR5 Access 4 cyl, 5 sp. I'm only at about 12500 miles, and also mostly due to being unemployed. This Tacoma replaced a 225k mile 97 4Runner. I've averaged 21.52 mpg during the full 12,500 miles. Haven't been back to the dealer yet, Switched to Pennzoil Syn at 5k, and changed again at 10k both in my own garage. Good luck for 4 more years to you.

Crossed a year back in October. Currently only at 12700... Its a great truck, I too came from an older Tacoma. They may have their faults, but nothing better out there.

    Thanks amigos!

Rudi, ya vamos con doble tración!

Doug, a cake? You would have eaten it all or drove over it! LOL

Has anyone else had any drips from your '10..., or was that really rare? Neither my '01 or '05 ever dripped a drop of any oil!

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .

My 2009 Tacoma (4x2) will soon hit 19,000 and is 21 months old ... and looks like your truck, except for wheels & debadging.

My experience has been excellent too.
