Have an offer from the dealer to trade my 2018 Limited for a 2021 Limited.
After the trade I would have to come out of pocket approximately $10-11 k.
    Would you do it?

Condition is excellent. Mileage is 53000
What about getting away from the transmission quirks this model year has?
I have seen comments that the 2020 and 21 don't have.

Power seat and Android Auto/Carplay are the major differences. Is that worth $10k? Personally I don't think so and would stay with the 18.

Sounds like a pretty bad deal to me. And just for the record, my ‘19 OR doesn’t have any transmission quirks.

I basically did the same thing. 2017 to 2020. But I gained a little more than you would. My finance amount for the Pro was $40k, couldn't complain there, and well within my budget for monthly payments. My 2017 was financed for $36k so a small difference in terms of payment.

What do you mean you'd have to come out of pocket $10k-$11k? Does that mean your finance amount will only be $10k or that if you want to keep your payment the same you'd need to fork out an extra $10k? IMO, that is the determining factor. If financing for only $10k then do it, but if your finance amount is going to increase by that much then maybe hold off until what you owe on your 18 vs what is worth is better.

Sadly the only way your going to get full value for your truck is to write it off, have the insurance buy you out then go get that nice new 21 and maybe have to spend 5k out of pocket.

Also 18s dont have shifting issues either in my experience (imo), 21 is the exact same drivetrain and will not drive any differently.

If it's what you want to do then go for it. I'm happy with my decision. Couldn't be more happy to be honest.

You would be giving up the ambiant air cooling for towing. 21 doesn't have it.

Are the upgrades from the 18 to the 21 worth 10k??
Powered seats and a few doo dads is not worth 10k plus interest to me. You could probably add those features to your 18 for less than 10k.

This sounds like a bad deal to me.

I went from a ‘17 to ‘20 TRD Sport and my price difference (trade in versus out the door on new truck) was $3500. Was worth it for me since there is a bigger difference in a ‘17 to ‘20 than an ‘18 to ‘21. I still miss the driver’s side bed cubby, though.

Will you still be a slave to the lender?

Easy mod to do on your truck. Order parts for it and cut the hole and install.

Its paid off, so no lender at this point. If he gets the new truck, then a new lender enters and wants 10k plus interest.
