Yeah, that was the one I was thinking of. Wrong side of the street, but I was wondering if you knew.
She's coming down like she means it now; not even 3:30 yet and it's started getting dark outside.

I’ll have to go check outside. Not sure what the weather is doing now but the power flickered a few times!

    Morning.
    Power didn’t flicker.
Have like 3”. it is heavy but doesn’t look frozen solid.
I’ll find out after I have my fill of coffee.
Left the tractor/blower parked and just moved the walk behind to the door.
    To heavy for the tractor.
My buddy in the Sebago area is plowing 4’ drifts.
Need to get it cleaned and the paths formed as it’s going to be freezing all week
And if they are not then the rest of the winter will be an issue.
    So another season has begun.

We had 6-7 inches at 6:30 last night when I went out to shake some of the weight off of the Apple trees and our Japanese Maple, but it switched to ice balls shortly after that. Between the weight from the ice pellets and the melting from the ground side we're down to about 4-5 inches of incredibly dense stuff now. The only casualty I've found so far is that the weight of the snow ripped our cable line from the side of the house, so I've still got internet but it's ground-based at this point.
Fortunately the snow froze enough of the ground that I was able to float the plow without doing too much grading when I was out cleaning up this morning. Elevation made a huge difference for this storm; the driveway at camp just had a crust of icy stuff maybe an inch thick. The hills all had 4-5 inches.

I installed my remote start from N2Designs. nice to get out to a warm truck when heading for a short drive to work. got the cell module as well, works great. I also just recieved the other day my Marlin Crawler LCA gusset kit. now to find someone to weld it in for me. Hopefully in 5 weeks or so I should have a set of CBI full skids.

I've got one too. It was my first purchase. We've had some issues with our cell service near by and that no longer works at home, but I was in Fort Kent this week and it worked there. So if the cell service stops working randomly, it may not be the unit, it could be your local tower.

I'm looking for some input. For those of us who explore the NMW, would you ever consider renting a cabin instead of camping? I am considering buying a cabin in the NMW and it would need to pay me a little bit back to make it worth it - annually (upkeep, taxes, gate fees, etc). I know I can rent it out during the moose weeks and probably to bird hunters, but do you think there is a market for overlanders. This is in a location that people don't typically go so it may be interesting for the exploration factor for the Overlanding community. I don't want to get into price, details, etc. But it would be a place with lights, toilet, shower, but no cell service. My thoughts if any of you are married to someone like my wife, she won't go into the woods for a week to sleep in a tent, but does love the romantic idea of a secluded cabin.

I rent a cabin on Spider lake during bird season. Sometimes rent one in August, but that might end as I have purchased a roof top tent. Good luck if you decide to do it.

Could be an interesting idea. Sure you would have no problem during hunting season. As far as the other seasons, Im sure there would be some interest. Depends a lot on location I suppose. I might actually have an idea where you're looking, which would be pretty good.

This is kind of an aside, but personally I always feel just a little bit reluctant to recommend NMW to people. Basically you just never really know.. Theres always bad apples in every group unfortunately, and that ends up attracting more. Especially with all the damn social media that surrounds overlanding. Its like they migrate towards each other or something lol. Just with so many places getting shut down or limited across the NE, I'd really hate to see NMW on that list.

I would be shocked if you know the area and cabin haha. I hope it's less known than that. Send me a PM if you want to take a guess.

I completely understand the second comment there. I think there is a huge opportunity for the state tourism office to build some infrastructure around overlanding in Maine. I would like to see an initiative from overlanding groups, sponsors, and the landowners to do a dedicated overlanding trail around the state. For the NMW use the existing roads, but also set some vehicle restrictions and allow for environmentally safe water crossings. I think that if the NMW put some structure around it they could limit the impact of the bad apples on a specific area.

IF you want examples of bad apples take a look at "stuck in maine" group on facebook. there are many posts that are users wheeling in areas that are blocked off, or they know a go around for an area that is typically off limits, I refuse to go tug some asshole out of an area they are not supposed to be in (powerline trails). and typically go in there and tear up the trails, and get them blocked off in the first place. I do love when I mention these trails are not allowed areas, and are blocked for a reason I get rude comments in return, and excuse the persons behavior, or claim ignorance.. and then you see them again out there ruingin it for everyone, and giving us (offroad enthusiasts) a bad name..

that being said with the mods I have on my truck, I am considered one of those individuals by appearance, and this tends to bug me knowing that i am one of the responsible ones, but get thrown into a group...
