It seems like it is for some. Or maybe a port option?

My 2019 Sport with Premium + Tech package did not have the Homelink mirror. I traded that in for a 2020 Off-Road with Premium + Advanced Tech at the same dealer. I was all set to purchase this for my new OR assuming it wouldn't have it, but luckily I didn't because it was there already! So not sure why one came with it and one didn't, but it is nice to have!

Does the Homelink work even when the truck is off? I have a 2021 and wondering if I need the cable adapter as well.

For my 2019, yes the Homelink works with the engine off.

Same with my 2020, works even with engine/ignition off.

I guess I will take a multimeter to my plug and see if I get a constant to the pins as it says in the first thread. Kind of iffy to have them constantly on, but it is weird when the auto dimming function isn't on when the truck isn't on. Thinking it would be the same with the Homelink portion of it. If that's the case of its constantly on, might as well keep the transmitter in the car. I do like the factory look though and not having extra stuff in my truck. Thanks guys!!

Just installed my Homelink V4 on my 2020. Easy install and with the adapter it can't be used with the engine off. Thanks Bob

Same-Same. Happy customer. Just installed on my '18 SPORT. Super easy. Also did the adapter because my TACO is parked outside of the garage. Thank you, BOB!!! @RJP869

Great product and great customer service! This is such an easy install...takes more time to program. I would recommend this upgrade to anyone. Only need a T20 torque bit!

I didn't have to use anything other than what was already there. Unplug the compass only mirror and plugged in the Homelink + compass mirror.

Here's what we've observed about the 2020 & 2021 trucks in terms of that constant hot wire. Just about all of the 2020's, except for some super early production trucks, had the dead constant hot wire issue. For the 2021's, so far we're seeing that most don't have this issue and the constant hot wire is live. However...notice I didn't say "all"...though probably 85% of the 2021 Tacoma owners we've dealt with to-date could just plug the mirror in, there were a small handful who still needed the adapter. So my theory is that the problem carried over into early production 2021's and then was corrected part-way into production (it's just a theory...didn't do any in-depth research like charting production dates and such).

    I have a 2021 SR.

    two questions:

    1) Will the Homelink v4/5 mirror replace my stock no-compass model?
    2) If so, how exactly do I find out if need an adapter harness (remove the stock mirror and somehow check the correct pin on the connector?)

    Thanks for your time!

    Hi! To answer your questions:
    1. Yes, as long as yours has the factory auto dim mirror.
    2. If so, on the 12 pin connector you'll see three wires. Looking at the back of the connector with the clip on top, the top left wire is your ignition-switched wire. Fourth from the left is ground. And the single wire on the bottom row is what should be the constant hot wire. Using a voltmeter, check for roughly 12 volts with the ignition off between the wire in the bottom row and the ground wire in the top row. If you show to have constant voltage, no adapter is needed.
    Hope this helps!

I didn't see this asked in the thread anywhere, at least not in the last year.

I have a 2020 SR with the manual dimming basic mirror and no plug. The OP mentions there is wiring that must be connected to somewhere in the A pilar and information can be provided to assist.

I would like to make this upgrade but I was hoping some information could be shared on the process before I start ordering. I'm pretty handy and confident but I don't want to get too deep into tering open the interior of my brand new truck.

    Thanks in advance
