So it's made in Russia? What kind of gun is that, and is the quality any good?

Just like Tacoma’s. If things got real bad and there were abandoned trucks you could salvage parts from them. If you have the most common firearm; likely you will find Parts and ammo.

The quality is good. There is a version that is not made in Russia that has questionable quality concerns. The Russian made model is good.

Yes. If they come through the front door...good to go.

The last time I had two guys attempting to use a bump key on my front door, he went nuts. Did a lot of damage to my front door. It didn’t even scare the guys either.

I'll second this. I have several Glocks. G19 is very comfortable to shoot but can be difficult to conceal in some circumstances. I had a G43 but replaced it with a G48 because of small capacity. G43 is single stack and the G48 and G43X (which have the same frame) are somewhere between single and double (I refer to it as a 1.5 stack). The G48 has a slightly longer slide than the G43X. They both come with 10 round magazines but there are aftermarket 15 round mags available. A lot of people recommend going to a metal mag release when using the 15 round mags because they're all metal and some feel they can damage the factory plastic mag release.

Having said all of that Sig makes a great gun and the P365XL feels great and has a good trigger. It's very comfortable to shoot for a gun it's size. Comes from the factory with a 12 round mag and factory mag extensions are available to increase to 15 rounds. My personal opinion is that the main drawback to the P365XL is the cost of spare factory mags. Easily double the cost of Glock factory mags. Definitely do not recommend the SAS model, especially for a new shooter.

I know a lot of people love the Hellcat and there seemed to be a lot of hype when it first came out but I absolutely hated the trigger. I shot the G43X, P365XL, and Hellcat side by side and the Hellcat was by far the least pleasant experience.

Google or YouTube bump key. It’s a lot easier to get inside than you think.

A good lock set will prevent it, but not the sets from HD.

So these were would-be burglars and the dog did not scare them?

Nope. They probably had a .22 pistol to shoot the dog in the head as soon as the door was opened. They are rather quiet, and a ghetto suppressor can be made pretty easy.

They changed their minds after seeing that I had the drop on them had they gone any further.

Echoing what’s already been said but go to a range, rent, and put some rounds through as many different options as you can. Get something that’s big enough to shoot comfortably and accurately. Only 9mm I actually own is a G19. I think there’s a reason so many in here own and recommend one.

Had they passed the threshold, absolutely. They had bad intentions at 1030 in the morning.

Look at FBI statistics. The most probable time for home invasions is 5:30-6:30 am when everyone is trying to get ready in the morning, 10:00 am to 3pm (most cases), and again in the peak evening hours.
