I find what works really well. After you agree to everything, you make it WELL known before walking into finance and that you have a zero tolerance in hearing about anything extended warranty or car wraps etc. Say you simply want to sign for the car on the agreed terms and drive away. Nothing more nothing less. Last time it work wonders for me. Finance guy didn’t say one word about it. Being in an industry where you have to lie to people to make a living is beyond frustrating. Don’t give those scammers more money than what’s required. My 2 cents.

    It’s through Toyota.
Or maybe the dealership has a special deal? It’s one of the larger dealerships down in south Florida. It’s slogan is “home of the lifetime warranty”

only catch I saw is that it’s not transferable

You must have a lifetime warranty sold by the dealership. Hopefully is isn't
brokered off to another company that eventually files chapter 11.

Seems there are 1/2 dozen dealerships in the southeastern part of the USA that throw this warranty in if you purchase a vehicle with the.

    upload_2020-12-4_22-33-31.jpg

It is not provided, as far as I know, by Toyota Motor Corporation.

    correct me if I'm wrong..

some of those warranties are a joke and people buy into them, its sad. My buddy bought a new PT Cruiser, bought the extended warranty. At about 65K miles, the thermostat stuck, it overheated and fried the engine (blown head gasket, warped head and or block). The thermostat was not covered under the warranty, which made the overheated engine not covered. The car never drove again, it just sat in his yard for years, until he had a wrecking yard come pick it up. It had depreciated so much that it wasnt worth it to fix it.

Can you get a Toyota warranty on a Tacoma with 102K miles?

It would have to be third party, and good luck. It's over 100,000.

Yeah pretty sure it’s a south eastern thing. I called another dealership and they were able to pull it up immediately and said you’re good to bring it in.

I got the info of the person below from a post on this site several months ago. I haven't purchased yet for my '20 so this info might not still be 100% accurate but the pricing was waaaay better than what they quoted at the dealership. Third party warranties are horrible. I will never buy one of those. I had zero issues with my last Tacoma for 6 years but this one has more electronics and the new a/c is a lot more expensive. With the prices she quoted me, looks like a good deal for the peace of mind.

I'm happy to help! The plan is the Toyota Extra Care Platinum $0 deductible, backed directly by Toyota, so it's good at any Toyota dealer in the US or Canada. The term begins the date your vehicle was purchased new and at 0 miles. I just need an email (typed please, no pictures) with the vin, exact current miles, name, address, and phone # for the policy and then I'll send our credit card authorization form for you. Please fill in all of the information except the credit card number. Shoot it back to me and then you can call me anytime with the credit card information, so that it isn't floating around in an email and I'll fill out the rest. Our office will process it with Toyota and then mail out your receipt and policy application copy. You'll then receive a packet in the mail from Toyota with your policy and roadside assistance card.

Wow! I thought MY finance-guy experience was the worst. I've mentioned it before in another thread, but the guy actually said to my face 'they don't make these Toyotas like they used to' when countering my 'the reason I buy Toyotas is so I don't have to worry about that' to his extended warranty sell.

I get it. That's how they make their money, but there's a reason you don't have that conversation on the sales floor. It's an UGLY part of what should otherwise be a happy occasion. The finance person probably gets in more trouble for NOT being pushy than by 'ruffling some feathers'. Just be sure to keep mentioning the dealership survey and they'll back off.

Purchased a Rav today for a family member. The guy was not pushy, but did offer three times each time the price dropped.

I ended up telling him I would not be able to take advantage of the discount and he respected it.

On the plus side.....those internet discounts at San Marcos Toyota are legit. Every other dealership in town was at least 3k more. Was very happy with the sales rep and scored a deal for $6k off what every dealer had as asking price.

I believe they are the place to buy Tacos or anything in cent Texas.

Not sure about dishonesty....as the dealership can price a warranty at whatever amount above their cost they see fit.

That said, I have never payed full retail on an extended warranty....and I've bought 3 or 4 over the years. I have an 8yr/125k Platinum warranty on my current rig and paid considerably less than $2500.

I have a built ‘97 4Runner too, which I will have owned for 20 years next year with about 235K on it now. I know that truck back and forth and have done everything from the suspension (about 3 different times over the years) to inner engine work like valve adjustments, injectors, timing belt, etc... I wouldn’t know where to even begin on this new Tacoma, haha. I will probably have to learn eventually though, because I very much prefer to do my own work whenever I can. And at 43, I finally have a big garage to do it in... unlike the dirty side yards I’ve been wrenching in for the last few decades, haha!

Yes! I had a ‘98 regular cab, 4x4, 2.7 4 banger, stick shift Tacoma with manual hubs for about 5 years that I absolutely loved! Then I got a wife and kids, so the regular cab became much less practical for me. I still wish I would have kept it around tho.

I recall they trying to do that to me too. I stayed firm with $1,000. That dude started clickity-clicking with his 10 key machine and kept coming up with new numbers not even close to 1K. Then that sucker tried to downsize my extended warranty and said I could get my tire warranty for that 1K. I'm thinking Pffft!!!! Why the hell would I pay 1K for a tire warranty when I can just get new ones for around that much? And I know they would blame me for driving inproperly, hitting a curb or something to that nature. Told that guy to keep clicking away on his 10 key machine but my offer ain't changing. It's 1K take it or leave it. Finally, after 45 min, he took it. I gave him crap afterwords because I said why did we have to go through 45 min of that crap when you could have just sealed the deal when I said 1K? SMH.

Almost cancelled the 1K offer just to get his panties in a bunch. Because I know I will have to take it to a Toyota dealer to keep the maintenance up. Not to my skilled auto repair shop that I trust and go to. Nope, it has to be Toyota doing the work. So they'll get me during the regular overpriced maintenance charges anyway but I do have a little peace of mind so it's all good.

Which warranty was it? I think cost on a full 10yr/125k Platinum is more than $1000

I did the same thing when i bought my 14 from a Toyota dealer
I asked why mine wasn’t Toyota cert so they lowered the price for that amount and i bought the truck
    The warranty was paid separate.
Looked through the paper work and found out it was 3rd party so i cancelled.
Since i had the money bought a Toyota warr through a different dealer

I didn't agree to an extended warranty when I bought mine, and they threw it in on the total loan without telling me. I discovered it when I went to make my first payment and cancelled it immediately. Like others have said, extended warranties are usually not worth it, most issues will happen within the standard warranty time frame.

    LOL!
Back in 90' I was gonna buy my wife a new Mazda 323. The sales-kid (He couldn't been more than about 20-21) was not easy to work with. He wouldn't budge on anything.. So, I started to get up and walk out the door. He then (And I gotta say, it was an Academy Award winning performance) he actually started crying (real tears!) and told me 'Listen ... If I don't make this sale my boss is gonna fire me! .. And I told him ' Oh shit man ..Do I look stupid to you?'
Anyway walked away and bought the wife a Corolla instead. And no tears.

True .. (And I'm not trying to turn this into a 'Pro Mazda thread but) .. I still remember when I bought my new one and popping the hood and thinking 'Wow ... There's nothing I can't reach here. This is AWESOME!' ... There was no 27 miles of hoses and wires and pipes and 'smog' items cluttering up the engine bay. And like you say .. except for the ignition 'computer' there was nothing I couldn't have fixed myself without having to take it somewhere and having it plugged into the 'Diagnostics' machine to pull up a bunch of 'codes' and hoping it was right.
(I also had a 72' Corolla with the 1600 ... Which we used to call the 'Half-A-Hemi' and that was even better .. LOL!!)
I would like to see what a new .. Made by Mazda, Mazda truck is like. Maybe they've figured out that a 'Re-Badged Ranger' just isn't cutting it.. Which they should have known from the start .. It would be very interesting to find out.

So much for the 'Bumper to bumper' 100K warranty, eh?
'We're very sorry Mr. Smith .. But you 'bumper to bumper' warranty covers EVERYthing .. Except the thermostat. We're very sorry..'
