So I don't even have the truck yet. It's not even going to be built till the 22nd of this month.
I wanted my first new car in 15 years to have a few things.
Adaptive cruise control! Comes w the truck.
Ability to havey phone, music and maps work wirelessly. Comes w the truck. Fancy!

Remote start. The dealer told me I get remote start, but after the first year I have to pay 8 bucks a month. That's just not what I wanted. I want it to work and not have to pay a monthly fee for it.

So they are going to install it at the dealer for me when it shows up. 300 bucks.

Now looking around I found the remote start with all the bells and whistles from n2 design. That would be like 440 bucks and I install it myself.

Is there much difference between the two options?

Yeah, it works from your phone for free the first year. Then it's 8 bucks a month.

The 8 bucks a month is basically to pay for cell service for your remote starter.

Edit- to answer your question. I don't believe there is much difference. You don't have to pay anything subscription wise for 3x start. To maintain cell service remote start, all aftermarket options will also charge you some sort of monthly fee.

You can also start your truck remotely with your key fob, I don’t think it’s tied to your phone app (I could be wrong).

I was told that only worked for the first year as well. All tied to the subscription. That's whyninopted for a more old school approach and have it just work w the remote.

Wrong. You can still start it with the Fob after the year is up. I'm doing it right now with my truck.
The phone app was great when I was out of distance but from my living room I just hit the fob three or four times and hold the lock button down and it starts right up.

I got a notification three weeks ago that my subscription for the first year was up. Sure enough the phone app doesn't work anymore to start it but the fob does.
Maybe I got a unicorn? Maybe it's different with the TRD Pro but I suspect not.

The aftermarket one I have (@N2DesignsInc ) works with the fob whether or not my subscription is active.

Before you pay the $300 try the fob.

Do you have kids? Then you have a remote start.

My dad had a remote TV control 50 years ago. "Knute, change the TV to channel 3. No, channel 6."
He also had a remote start on his car. "Knute, go start my car. The keys are on the counter." Dad only used the remote start when the temperature was below 0F.

No, just me and the dog. While I think I could train the dog to do this task, I don't want his hair on the front seat.

I grew up shoveli6the driveway, taking leaves, using a push mower. I move out and bam! Snowblower, leaf blower, riding.mower all appeared at my parents house.

Guess I'll always find out a year later if it doesn't work. Then I can have it installed.

I do long road trips. And it always annoys me when I'm in the slow lane, cruise set at the speed limit, and people pull in front of me and constantly slow down. I'm patient, and love the idea of the truck just doing it for me. Does it not
work well, or do.you just not like it in general?
