A handful of us have actually. Some were able to get chips from their local locksmiths, I ended up buying a non-fob Toyota H key from ebay for ~$14 and programing the transponder myself using techstream.

I cracked the casing of the transponder, but it still worked when I swapped it into the flip fob

As others have said, buy a cheap replacement chip off eBay or somewhere and then buy one of these programmers:https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Toyota...Auto-Key-Programmer-Code-Reader-/264822492573

should only set you back about $30 or less. There are videos on how these programmers work. Pretty straight forward. Just make sure you buy a Toyota chip.

Thanks for the replies all. I’m generally not the most patient person. That being said, I waited until this morning and went to a lock smith. He had a chip without a key. Perfect. Got it programmed and a new key cut for $50. I’m happy and didn’t have to try and program myself. Dealer wanted a cool $260

 damn. My dealer wanted $175 just to program a key I provided, locksmith wanted $75 and seemed weary of trying to program a key that wasn't theirs.

I'm glad you got it taken care of though

I'm not thumbing through all 72 pages but hindsight is 20/20. If I were to do this all over again, I would have a locksmith program a standalone chip for me and then build the key. This would give me 3 keys and only be out the additional $50. Just a word of wisdom to the next person.

You still need the other internals from the key.

But I would agree with this idea. Rather than destroying your $400 factory key. Buy a new key from a locksmith, I bought mine from Batteries Plus, and have them program it for a total of about $150. Then dismantle that key to use as a donor.

Hahaha I'm an idiot... of course you need the internals. Literally forgot about that part.

I brought just the blanks to my Toyota dealer and they cut two for free in 5 minutes. Work great.

Google “locksmith near me”. Go to one of those. Like a mom and pop shop. They’ll cut it and it will be more precise.

OP has a black one he might sell separate from the truck? PM him and ask. I haven't seen anymore around.
