I swapped to my winter tires today and took a couple pics. Had my truck just over 3 years and the whole underside is a mess of Krown and dirt, but there’s very little rust anywhere.

Krown is a Canadian company and doesn't have much coverage in the US yet. The closest dealer is in Indiana according to their website.

Yep, It doesn’t matter if it’s Krown, FF or and other quality undercoating that doesn’t dry and encapsulates the metal. The important thing is that you keep up with it yearly. Mine is the same way with the coat of grime. But no rust. It’s a no brainer.....anything that protects will collect road grime. I can live with that. Good job!

My 'Krown' used to be a 'Carwell' and only became 'Krown' several years ago. Similar material, waxy, oily stuff.....

Same owner, warranty, etc, though the waiting room dog finally passed....

Rust prevention is a necessity around here with this much salt...

Yep. Same here. The roads are white when dry from the salt.

10th annual treatment (Krown) today for my 2010. Every couple of years I'll grind/repaint before getting it sprayed, mainly on/near factory welds. Pulled the spare out and washed underside before I took it in, to make sure they have full access.

The part that holds the spare in needs some attention....

Worth doing if you intend to keep it for a while.

Great to hear some long term user experience...have you had any issues with weatherstripping or plastic trim swelling, etc? My first vehicle was an 84 xtra cab Marty mcfly special that literally rusted in half so I know what the crappy nj roads can do to toyotas but I'm worried about collateral damage to my (eventual) new TRD OR. Seen some pics on other websites with these issues

Only issue I think I had was the solenoid from PopnLock (I added as my tailgate didn't lock from factory ) I have in the tailgate to lock the tailgate. Krown sparys inside the doors and tailgate, which is good, but I think the solenoid in the gate didn't like the spary and stopped working. I placed the replacement solenoid in a plastic bag in the tailgate and haven't had any issues since. Other than that, no issues, including no issue with weather stripping or plastic.

Krown/rust proofing is just a part of keeping metal in good shape. If I see an area that needs attention, I'll remove the rust and paint (POR15). I'll do this before I take it to get sprayed at Krown each year. After 10 years underside is in good shape. Worked on the cab mount area under the front doors this year.20191020_170408.jpg 20191020_170357.jpg

Took the Tacoma in for it's 6th Krown treatment today.....frame is still black and rust free. Toyota also did the CRC application back in July to extend my warranty on the frame.... the way it looks I won't need that but got it done just in case.

My 2009 (360,000kms) has been done every year (Rust Check not Krown; potato/potahto) and when I went last year for my frame inspection the mechanic said there was no way that he could fail it, the frame was in too good shape. What sold me on annual rustproofing was a 1984 Ford Ranger 4X4 that I bought many years ago. They were known to be absolute rust buckets but this one had no rust other than a small dent that had cracked the paint and had surface rust because it had been Rust Proofed every year since new. I did not bother to continue the trend and 3 years later, the rust took over the rockers and quarters; this made me a believer in annual rustproofing, and all my vehicles are done every year. I take my Taco in tomorrow for its final inspection tomorrow as my 12 years is up on 24NOV2020 and I suspect that it will pass with flying colors. $150/year is a VERY small price for the protection and value that it adds to a vehicle.

The Tacoma goes in next week for the annual treatment. Cheap insurance. My first gen Tundra is Krowned regularly and still has no rust, and there is a similar problem with their frames. My old T100 was treated and it finally went to the grave yard last year. The stuff drips, but it works.

    Cheers.

Good thread, thanks for all the info. I am getting my 2021 Tacoma on Wednesday and I am going straight to Krown. The dealership tried the scared tactics saying Krown will void my warranty and tried to sell me their undercoat, i'm not buying it.

I believe they are up to the 2017's for frame replacements if you have issues, so they haven't fixed the problem in what? 22 years at least?? I'll continue to Krown my truck because I don't want a truck that runs forever have the frame rot out from underneath me.

Mine finally stopped dripping. Not a bad thing since it's pretty obvious they didn't scrimp in the spray. While I was in the dealer told me the earliest bookings were the end of January, and all the dealers were like that.

A few pictures to show what my truck looks like after 7 years in the SALT state of Pennsylvania with 6 years of KROWN treatments. I give KROWN 2 thumbs up for keeping my frame in one piece.
