Strategically placed under a chair. They're all scared shitless of it....though Leo our 6th month old set it off a couple of times early on. To be fair, it was his first experience with it. But the girls remember it from years past and don't even attempt to breach the automated vacuum of death's defense perimeter.

If we set it off you simply press the rectangle button and it shuts off then resets after 30 seconds. If we want to be in the room we just reach down and flip the switch on the vacuum.

It's simply a junction box, an outlet, motion sensor, cover plate, and an extension cord....all mounted on a peice of wood.

Very nice. We just use some motion detective air sprayers at this point (that we don't even need to turn on) and ours stay away. He gets interested the first day we bring the tree out but beyond that he won't try and bother it unless he's in a mood and then we'll remind him of the air.

It also really depends on the personality of the cat. Don't get a cat that likes to climb/jump and put a ginormous tree in a room with no other options for them. They will climb it

 

That's just because he wants @Gritto to build him a bench.
