Do the SR's come with paint matching bumpers and the SR5's have the chrome ones? My SR has paint matched grill/bumpers but also came with the "Baja" wheels... maybe just some package that was ordered for it originally.

 

Back then they weren't called SR's, just base models. The base model had an unpainted front bumper and fender flares and a black rear bumper. The SR5's had color matched fender flares and front bumper with a chrome rear. The TRD offroad was the same as the SR5. The TRD sport and the Xrunner came with color matched everything (including mirrors), and in 2015 the Pro was all color matched as well. I do not know as much about the T|X baja packages, or the regional packages (like the xsp package).

Hmm, my truck isn't an SR5 or any TRD but does have the color matched grill, fender flares and rear bumper. I did not buy the truck new but from Carmax in 2015 (its a 2014). The "Baja" wheels are just these ones:

I always thought I just had a base model (SR) but who knows.

 

My guess is the previous owner modded it, or it could have been the dealer did it before it hit the showroom. I think those wheels were a special dealer item, and to my knowledge they didn't come stock on any trucks. The wheels that came on the 2nd gen baja trucks were the silver or bronze fake beadlocks. Cool unique truck you've got for sure

 

Thanks for this explanation, exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. I assumed my front bumper was color matched and faded because lots of other 2006's have color matched bumpers. Turns out it's just a coincidence because I have a black truck! Worth painting my front bumper or just get a color matched replacement?

It is easy to find a chrome grill for $50 or less. Just check the sale forum here or do a Google search. If you want more chrome you can also buy a chrome grille insert for the center of the grille, kind of like the pic of my truck below.
