So me and my wife went on a trip from So Cal to Sedona AZ and on the way back we decided to stay an extra night in Vegas to cut down the drive. After we stopped at a quick rest stop we got back in the truck and tried to go in reverse the truck felt like it was backing over something and wouldn’t move backwards so we stopped and checked to see if there was anything there but there wasn’t. As we started slowly driving through the parking lot there was grinding/ bumping sound coming from the rear almost like we were dragging something . We stopped again to check underneath the truck but there were no signs of any visible signs of damage in the rear. At that point we had driven about 800 miles broken up through 4 days. We’re currently stopped in Vegas and just wondering if anyone else has any insight or have experienced something similar to this? Anything is greatly appreciated just trying to get an idea as to what I’ll need to fix when we get home -.-

    Did you use the ebrake?

They lock up when they get wet sometimes, pretty harmless.

No ebrake was used which was weird. We just parked and went to throw it in reverse and it totally felt like I was trying to drive over a huge rock in reverse then I put it in drive and checked there was nothing there tossed it back in reverse and let the gears do their job and it was fine and we went do go drive and it felt like I was slightly pulling something and it felt like grinding from the rear I checked the driveshaft cause I’ve heard horror stories and it seemed fine just such an odd thing to happen and it’s still happening just the trucks sitting in the parking and kinda worried to drive it not gonna lie

It’s a 2016 and i hardly ever use it only time I use it is when I park in my driveway and that’s just cause it’s a secondary safety just in case but I don’t always use it even when I do park it’s just a here and there kinda thing

I don't think brakes are covered under the emissions warranty.

If you applied them during your stop before the noise started, then I'd say that it's likely that they didn't release because the cable or actuator had rusted. That happened to me with my Tundra when I used the brake for some reason even though I then didn't use it regularly.

If not, I have no idea.

That doesn't sound like a brake issue. I would chalk the tires, put it in neutral, jack up the rear end and try spinning the tires. That should tell you if something is going on with the rear diff. If not, transmission issue?

Do you have an oil leak that maybe drained the rear?

That was my guess either the rear diff or trans. I had my lady back it up and drive it forward and I think it sounds like it’s coming out of the rear end. Is there possible back of grease I checked the shaft when I had my new exhaust put on. Also not sure if this matters but I did recently go from 33s to 35s

Try eating more fiber? Or less?

I'd check for oil leak in the diff.
