LOL I'm 5'10" so I really don't need them. But the few times I have had to take mom anywhere it would help maybe but I found another way since I don't want them on my truck. I'm old too just not ready to need them for me

This place is a trap house for Tacoma addicts. You will have no disposable income. You will base your activities on Fridays on the Friday Threads. You will develop a slush fund to pay for mods; this may result in posting a kidney on Craigslist.
    Abandon all hope.

Bruh, embrace the laughter when at some point in the future you post "I think I'm done."

So WELCOME HERE TO THE CLUB!

You can run your Taco to the ground every day and then some!

I am confused on "running boards"......if you are looking at "rock sliders" there are a few options...well more than a few ;)

We decided to take the "predator steps" off of ours as the steps would hang up on the types of things we do.

WE (read wife, family, dogs) elected to go with a rock slider that was 5 degrees. Rationale for US was the "STEP" for dogs and family. The thing I like about that option is that there is a step...well kind of... and it kicks the stuff we encounter away from the body. Yes you could tuck 'em in and gain a BIT more clearance but see what you actually need.

Tonneau.....that is a whole other discussion but I will tell you what we did for OUR needs.

I elected to go all the way for a Diamondback HD. EXPENSIVE!

If you are just looking for a cover for the bed DO NOT GO THAT ROUTE. Unless you need it save the dough and go for something else. Look on Craigslist for someone who is selling a stock Tonneau cover and purchase from them. It is a nice bed cover.

Again WELCOME and enjoy your Tacoma! When you ACTUALLY need something....upgrade. Until then just simply enjoy the truck .... its great and you will not regret your purchase!

Thanks for the info on the rock sliders! At this point, I'm not planning on doing any or much serious off roading but I guess never say never. I'll have to look further into the sliders. I do like the protection that they afford. I have a niece that's under 5' and it's a real struggle for her to get into the truck, hence the running boards.

As for the tonneau cover, I'm looking into the Lomax and maybe the Bak Flip. The Diamondback looks pretty good but I hear ya, too EXPENSIVE for me at this point. I like the stock cover but I understand that they're pretty heavy to take off if I have to. I really don't want a soft cover

Keep your eyes open for used deals, there are a lot of people that are switching to bed racks and selling their tonneaus right now. Some very good used prices to be had.

I use Evernote for projects. I started a Taco page before I actually bought mine. Then I started adding to it.
I've now added stuff I never really planned on in the beginning, removed some stuff I thought I would definitely do, and at one point was "almost done."
I added to the list again yesterday.

I put a Lomax on mine - got it here on TW through @GotExhaust - I'm very happy with it. It is super easy to take off when necessary. Well made.

I like that "list" thing you've got going. Right now, it's just want, want, want!! I gotta figure out what I really do need like a tonneau cover. The other stuff will work itself out

It's good to hear some feed back on the Lomax. I'm trying to decide if I want the Lomax Matte or the Stance.
