I am slowing removing/replacing rusted components from my Tacoma. The easiest first step is replacing rusted screws with stainless steel or coated screw that will resist rust.

The screws right along the inner edge of my wheel wells are totally rusted (about 5 screws each side). Does anyone know the specifications of these screws or where to purchase replacements?

do you have the chrome wheel arch moldings or flares

    do they look like this?

i am going to brush some woolWax grease on them and see how well it sticks, I replaced the screws last year
it would be nice if those screws were made of the same grade as the mudflap ones, those never rusted!

Yup just like that! Our trucks are very similar. Where did you find the screws? Mine is 1999 4x4 single cab.

This is most definitely not something you need to buy from a Toyota dealer. Take one of the ones you've already removed and go to your local Ace Hardware or auto parts store and match them.

You can probably buy a box of 100 for the same prices as a dozen you'd get from the dealer.

@My Name is Rahl probably can find you some.

Its the black coating and the captive washer that can be a little tricky to find.

These are called SEMS screws and are automotive specific.

If you can take one into a Fastenal, they will match it for you. They will probably have to order them in for you though.

    The one exception is air.

Definitely only buy OEM air. You might have to call ahead and special order the cabin air though. Seems like the 3rd genners are buying up a lot of it as well.

They have T-shirts and hats with their name on it too, but I am pretty certain Toyota doesn't make T-shirts.
