I had to pay 100 more than that on my 15 taco this year....

 

I mean, I'm not officially recommending it, in case there's fines and of course, we are all model citizens in here...

 

I believe taxes are assessed in March. If you didn't own it before then the first year won't have taxes. It's what happened with a Saturn Ion I had, didn't have it long enough to have to pay taxes.

 

Yeah cuz you pay them when you buy it (at the dealer or when you register for plates). Then at renewal.

 

I meant property taxes. Sales tax is collected at registration.

 

Sales tax (state/local) vs licensing fee (state) vs personal property tax (county). Everyone has to have their chance at your wallet. And yes, if you did not own a vehicle by January 1 of this year, it will not be assessed on this year's property taxes.

To be fair, the 2nd year of that I randomly owed on a 92 F250 that I had never seen, much less owned. Thanks for that, Jefferson County lol

All $24 of it. Easier than paying $20 for an inquiry and hold. Wait for an "investigation" or whatever... I paid it. And had them take it off the list.

There's a maximum on the late fee for registration....
Someone here went like 8 months before they registered their Chevy.

 

I didn't register my first motorcycle for nearly three years because it didn't run. Avoided the late fee by moving to Wyoming and registering it there.
