I’m thinking 16x8 Steelies.. but I’ve heard there is issues clearing the caliper? Still need to do some digging I don’t want to go with 17’s. Would there be different inner radius on 16” Steelies vs cast aluminum? My 4runner all I had to do was grind like 1/8” off the caliper and they were fine

But you really don't need BS that's the antiquated non math people's way of figuring out fitment. BS takes into account the lip at the back of the wheel
which can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

They should clear. Don't ever grind a caliper that's dumb. Yes there is a difference of inner radius on all wheels 17" to 17" even. It all depends on how deep and where the manufacturer wants to put the drop center of the wheel. That's the part that would cause inner clearance issues.

18 year old me thought it was a great idea! It was closer to a 16th the caliper had raised edges mostly for looks i didn’t get into the structure of it. Still trucking around in my family 7 years later no issues. I had the steelies at a tire shop a couple years ago before I sold it, dropped it off for tires and they said they “wouldn’t fit...” I kick myself to this day that I didn’t make them shove one on there in front of me

so the industry standard formula - which is necessary to calculate to make sure that you don’t rub on the upper control arm or inside the fender wells at full lock, or determining the scrub radius - is outdated and for stupid people. Got it.

It's not the industry standard anymore we go by offset only those stuck in the past are using BS. You can make the same calculations using offset.... It's all converting to metric and simplifying vs all the stupid convert to SAE.

Well both matter but offset is kind of irrelevant if you’re running stock with axles. So most people can take offset out of the equation and just use backspacing compared to the stock wheel BS.

Offset is based off the true center of the wheel and where the tire actually seats on the wheel. This is more ideal for those calculations. Wheel offset IS the industry standard for wheels these days look on the back of any wheel there isn't a BS number mentioned except for a few manufacturers and a few of their wheels. What is on every wheel is the offset. They are very similar measurements but for one key differences where the measurement is taken. in reference to the center of the wheel which is needed when you calculate scrub radius. You need to figure inset or outset of the contact patch from WMS and where those intersect for the scrub radius and ideal radius it's quicker knowing offset since that is industry standard for wheel manufacturers. The rest of the world uses offset to calculate these things the US is the only one especially in the aftermarket that refuses to do so. The car manufacturers use offset to calculate for setting them up from the factory.

It's kinda like watching an alignment guy use degrees for toe when it isn't measured in degrees.

I always go by backspacing. I thought ricers came up with offset just to be different

That’s exactly what happened when wheels started being manufactured in Taiwan and Japan

both measurements determine where the wheels sits in the fender for clearance purposes.

Prinsu came in today for the 4Runner. Less than a week lead time.

Looks great! If you don't mind me asking, what made you go with the Prinsu over LFD or the others?
