There is more. Trucking and insurance are run by organized crime. Always have.
I worked making aircraft fly without pilots. Taking truck drivers out of the drivers seat would be no problem at all. Let me run you over with a 40 ton semi and we'll talk.
Every driver on the road has a responsibility to not kill or injure anyone else.

Sounds to me like there was a problem with the way the construction was set up. Usually a rear end accident is an at fault accident, must be the construction company and state or whoever set it up that way was just as liable as the truck driver. The judge let them out of it through some loop hole, understand your frustration. I don’t believe you will ever see a self driving truck, at least not in any cold climate state with snow. Once the safety sensors on the trucks we drive now get covered in snow, ice, or salt they don’t work. You can hate every truck driver out there, but everyone relies on them, and we aren’t all bad drivers. Most of us have to drive for everyone else’s bad decisions, otherwise you would see a lot more accidents.

You must never leave Tx. any state that has long hills or mountains require you to use 4 ways under a certain speed.

You know what will really frost my cookies? If Subaru uses what's left of that car in one of their ads to prove how safe their vehicles are.

This was my wife and I November 19th, 2016 except we were stopped at a light. Straight flat, dry road. The sun had just dropped below the horizon. A Chevrolet Cruise doing 50 MPH hit our Tacoma. The driver never hit her brake. I have pictures of our truck sitting on a flat bed with the frame and bed bent exactly the same way. Very sobering moments watching that video.

Our truck saved our lives although my wife is still recovering from her injuries. We had about 20K miles on the Tacoma when we were hit. To the tune of $27K dollars it was rebuilt on a new frame. Never had a minutes trouble with the truck before the accident; the truck has 90K miles on it now and we haven't had a minutes trouble with it since it was rebuilt.

Confidently wrong much? It is so trivial to check these kinds of things before you make a fool of yourself.

Some places with tall mountains that not only don’t require hazards but in some cases specifically forbid it (source AAA):
    • Alaska: The use of hazard lights is not permitted while driving.
    • California: Hazard light use is not permitted while driving except to indicate a traffic hazard.
    • Montana: Hazard lights are not permitted while driving except to indicate a traffic hazard.
    • Nevada: Hazard light usage is not permitted while driving.
    • New Mexico: Hazard light use is not permitted while driving.

Pa NY . I personally don’t care if I’m doing 15-20 mph I will have hazard lights on climbing hills or mountains. Driving in snow or rain storm than no. I do have a question for the guys that think truck drivers are bad drivers. In the state of New Jersey they have designated car lane only 3 lanes of traffic, and then 3 lanes for trucks but cars can use them to. So why in the hell would they want to be in the truck lane when they can be away from trucks altogether.

Let’s make a clarification. 18 wheelers or passenger vehicle?

18’s they no better than to make it any more complicated for you fools driving cars. Before anyone is ever issued a regular drivers license they should have a really good understanding of what not to do around 18 wheelers. The things I have seen driving for 28 years is just amazing. If you want to judge me, come ride with me for a week and you will get an education like no other I promise you that.
