I contacted the seller and he's willing to come down to $550, so I'm going to look at it this weekend. Seems like a pretty good deal.

Can you find out what tips it uses? It's a lot cheaper buying them off Amazon.

I’ve used my everlast supercut 51p a ton and never skips a beat. Takes a steady hand as with any plasma but works really well for the price and uses normal consumables. I do wish I spent a little more for a cnc version as I want a plasma table in the near future

Just got my new 205 Rebel... The replacement for the other one.

Not sure what the deal is, but went to run a few beads on some aluminum and it's not arching off, it just fizzles out or won't arch off at all. Or it melts the tungsten (Is it not switching between - + like AC is supposed to causing it to get too hot orrr?). I also noticed I was getting some shocks thru my hands coming thru the table.....
    WUT IS THE DEEEAL?:frusty:

I'm hoping I'm having a mental glitch and it's something I've over looked.

Just the normal questions don`t take it personal !!

I don`t have the Esab Manuals on my home computer

Take time to go back over your settings .

using a remote panel output set high enough?

Sometimes getting in the correct process can drive you crazy

    Set to AC

Preflow timer set to a very high time??

Using the correct gas and flow for the process

Does it have output in stick mode.??

    Best of Luck!!

I really Hate Esab Machines as of late.

I'm gonna go back out there and see what's going on today, I just tried last night when I brought it home.. And it started all that crap so I decided instead of going Tazmanian Devil I'd turn it off and call it a night.
Hope it's something I'm doing and NOT the machine, geeeeez, I waited a month or more for this one!

You might be surprised some of the nasty comments I got over the years.

Best one that Pops into my mind listening to a Welding Supervisor Rant how experienced He was .

Having us tell him his welder was fine that when it came back it would not work took me longer to walk to the welding department look around they had managed to chop the work cable in half no one noticed .

Funny if I go back there He has a Sudden urge to visit the bathroom

I don’t know a ton about these multi process machines, but is the torch plugged into the negative port? Using argon for shielding? Can you control ac balance control on your machine? If so you might have too much cleaning going on which is destroying your tungsten.

I've always tried to be humble.. Even if I know something well, I still ask questions.. I'm not afraid of saying I'm wrong or made a mistake.

It's always been irritating to me when people have big egos and think they always know everything and can't learn something new, even if it's from a beginner at something.

The more I've learned in life, the more I realize I don't know much of anything.

I actually tried switching the polarity around, just to see how it responded (but I think it does something in the machine so you don't have to switch)... Yes running argon, set at about 15. I set it up like the manual says... It's still doing some weird stuff, I just went out there and "tried" to run a couple of beads with no acceptable success.

If trouble shooting doesn't work, a buddie of mine was having issues with his tig, we went through all the possible problems, no dice. So we thought let's try a different bottle, and it worked, I've gone through hundreds of bottles, never had an issue with gas before.

If possible take pictures that is not as good as seeing in person but better then not seeing.

Is this a new Torch or did you keep all the accessories ??

Is this a brand new or recon machine??

Try the DC side of the Tig Process

This is the same generation of machine you had things tend to get changed all the time in how things get set up which is a royal pain when end users are so used to the old system. Please take the time to go through the manual.

My attempts to get one just lead me to massive amounts of Esab Sales propaganda

I wish I was closer to help in person

    Thanks man,
I appreciate you trying to help, kind of you.

Yeah it's brand new in the box with all new accessories, the welding shop manager told me to keep all my other stuff from the old one, so now I have two of everything (minus Tig torch and pedal, which I took with the old incase they needed/wanted to test).. And it's supposed to be a newer generation of the same machine.

I'm dealing with Aluminum only right now.
Right now I have the Torch/gas line hooked to - , with ground to +... In the manual it says hook it up like that, but that's normally how you have it for DC TIG correct?? I was assuming it would switch something internally bc I switched in the screen settings to AC TIG.. It seemed like it was welding real dirty, like it wasn't cleaning also spit and sputtering.

I did manually switch the ground and torch to opposite, and the Tungsten turned molten red... I was wondering if it was supposed to be hooked up for AC TIG with torch +, and if it did that, it is it not alternating currents like it should to keep it from getting so hot.

    And you're right,
I'm going to dig on the manual and look into things deeper... I didn't have these issues with the old one for the several minutes that it worked.

Ended up picking this up today for $550. Plugged it in after I got home to test it out and it cuts like butter; first time using one of these and can't believe how easy it is to use. Can't wait to use it on a project.
It comes with the IPT-60 torch and included a standoff fitting, plus the buyer had a bunch of electrodes and tips he included. I plan to get some drag tips as well to try out, but with the offset it was cutting through 1/4" steel like it was not even there. Have you heard of The Plasma Cutter Store? I was watching a Kevin Caron YouTube video and he recommended it (they have an eBay storefront). Or do you feel the quality of consumables off Amazon is acceptable? Just curious where folks are buying them from.

    Thanks for the link.

I've been buying mine off Amazon and so far I am happy with the performance.

Learned something over the weekend. I'm sure it's super obvious to the old hands, and in retrospect it makes sense, but as a newbie it was kinda neat to figure it out on my own.

Cheapo tall can crusher - crossbar press-fit into stamped metal handle had come loose. What better item to try to repair than something cheap and already broken?

I figured easy peasy - clean off the paint, throw down a bead (blob), grind it back down, all good.

Nope. Just not enough penetration. That's what she said!

    IMG_6971.jpg

So maybe I open it up a bit and thus not grind away the weld? Three divots with a drill oughtta do it...

    IMG_6975.jpg

Don't wanna melt the foam rubber handle cover...

    IMG_6978.jpg

    Ta da!

    IMG_6979.jpg

Smoothed it out, bit of rattlecan black paint, good to go.

    Interesting experiment.
Cut my mitre the wrong way of course, so i fixed it.
The top cross section weld was TIG at 120amps bottom was stick at 85amps.
So long story short, this frame will be all stick welded. Its 3x faster, doesnt trip my breaker and only a little beveling of the material is needed.
I love aluminum welding with tig, its super satisfying, but sometimes you need to know when to get ugly and burn it in there.

Well I took some of your advice.

I moved my 20A shady "AF" receptacle and moved it (properly) to a good spot, then I bought some really nice, thick gauge wire for my Welder and my Plasma Cutter and replaced the factory plugs. Now I can drag the cart all around the shop and not have to worry about being able to plug in. I swear that by upping the gauge of the wire, the welder got more jam now....

I know I know..... its all in my head :)
