    yeah that makes sense. Another spot I know is where the radio antenna come in. Especially if you don't have one anymore haha

    I've only been in one bad situation where due to the current the water would get up to the door handles. I got stuck for a brief moment and Im sure that extra time allowed that water to force it's way in. That and it was moving hard in fast on that side. Thankfully I think my door seals are good enough on that side things just got a bit wet nothing drastic.

    I've been caught deep a few other times but not for long enough to matter thankfully.

    that's a good point. Maybe that's why I didn't have as much intrusion as you did. and why dan and mike avoided any at all.

    The water on the passenger side was just under the door handles yeah. over the wheels and up on the fenders. This was mostly due to the current of the water though. Mike dips his front in good I have some great photos of it just have never gotten around to editing them..:anonymous:

    Dan has some though, you can just make out the water line on my truck. About 2-3'' below the door handles:

    Our trucks were so dirty the water line was pretty obvious so it was easy to tell. I got stalled on the climb out and that cause me problems.

    It was by far the stupidest thing I've ever done and think in a lot of ways I'm lucky to still have the truck. It did move it as the bed dipped down into the hole on the climb out. Only reason I went for it was cause I couldn't really see what was happening on the passenger side ha other wise Id have stopped. Current was really moving in this wash.

    Mine is very "chunky" until it warms up. I replaced the fluid, hoses and added a cooler and filter last year. The rack was replace four years ago.

    Huh, mine doesn’t seem to do that, no idea how old the fluid is (didn’t flush it today).

    but it hasn’t had a super cold start up for awhile, so we’ll see

    sorry I wasn't trying to make this a "dick contest".

    i was just curious if you'd notice where it had come in from given that we'd been in bad situation as well and hadn't suffered as bad. It's obvious your door seals are well...cosmetic maybe at best now haha and I like the theory of the water pushing on the door. It was certainly pushing almost enough to move the whole truck.

    That is all.

    Sitting still or backing up is part of the key I think. If you're not sitting still, getting water in the back is hard (because you end up with an eddy back there and so the water is much lower).

    I recommend not trying, hahaha. Not because of water in the cab - you can always dry that out. I really fear water in the engine, and then being stuck in the middle. The solution to that is to not travel alone I guess. :anonymous:

    I'm going to have to disagree on the pressure thing. Our doors can't move enough from the additional pressure to "seal things up," and newer cars are much better sealed at the same water levels than our Tacos. The issue is weather stripping. Ours is 20 years old and (as your photo shows) falling apart. Newer cars just have better seals, and if we replaced ours, they'd work a lot better. That's my theory.

    We weren't actually at door-handle water for any length of time. It was just fast moving.

    Mike - those are some great shots; I've either forgotten about them or never seen them.

    Not the deepest water though (for me anyway). That came in Afton Canyon at the end of the Mojave Road. 36" deep, and a water line much higher than we had in Capitol Reef. That was some scariness for me, as we slowly descended into it, solo truck. Also dumb, but not as dumb as the wash in hindsight.

    ...but I was not calm as we sank lower and lower... this waterline has dried down a little, but you can see how slowly we were going since it's so straight across; trying to keep the bow wake off the hood; front fender still got a good wash!

    +1, who cares. I don't. Your video was enough for me to call @mrs.turbodb over and show her. The "clunk" into the ice was insane. No damage from that, I hope? Oh, and I can tell you that when we were going through Afton, I'm sure I sounded a lot like Kirsten! :rofl:

    I don't have an answer for you, but I'm curious as to why you're pulling that out? I have a sense of the overall project you're working on, but still not sure why those would come out for that. Or maybe you're just cleaning while you're in there?
